Abstract

In an igniter having a locking member for locking an actuating member that is operated to ignite the lighter, the parts composing the locking member provide for outstanding operability over a long period of time, improved reliability, manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. The lighter comprises a slideably mounted actuating member running between a valve means and an piezo-electric spark producing unit, in which the locking member is rotatably mounted in the body of the lighter and propped toward the locked position by a propping means, and when the locking means is rotated to the unlocked position, the ignition operation of the actuating member is permitted. <IMAGE>
