- Such a method is known, in accordance with which cellulose fibres recovered from recycled paper and jute are mixed with a binder of lignin, tree resin, to which fire-retardant and anti-fungal substances are optionally added, whereafter the mixture is scattered on a flat surface until a layer of a desired thickness is obtained, whereafter the binder is activated and the layer is dried. From the dried layer are obtained boards with a maximum dimension in the order of about 1 m and a thickness in the order of about 100 mm.
- the known method has the drawback that boards formed from fibrous material according to this method, which are applied for instance as heat and sound insulating wall and ceiling boards in house-building and public utilities construction, are in general comparatively brittle and heavy, generate a lot of dust and require expensive raw materials.
- the mixing of fibrous material and binder does not take place during a separate step, but during step (iv) of the spraying. It has been found that the orientation of the fibres in the finished board is substantially transversely of the surface of this board, as a result of which the drying process for a board manufactured by spraying proceeds more rapidly and more easily than for a board manufactured according to the known method.
- a board manufactured according to the invented method has a better consistency, particularly a higher compression strength and a greater delamination strength, while the sound and heat insulating properties of the finished board are moreover better than those of the board manufactured in the known manner.
- Fibrous material is advantageously brought into contact according to the invention with binder in a path between the spraying device and the releasable substrate during step (iv) of the spraying, as a result of which the individual fibres are provided with a layer of binder at the moment when the fibres are sprayed against the releasable substrate.
- the releasable substrate is covered with a foil material or a solid board material prior to step (iv) of the spraying in order to form a surface layer of the board-like layer to be sprayed in step (iv).
- the curing of the board-like layer in step (v) is performed by guiding air through this layer in a direction substantially perpendicular to the surface of this layer.
- the curing of the board-like layer in step (v) is performed by heating this layer using a heating device disposed close to this layer, for instance a microwave heater or an infrared heater.

- Spray nozzles 6 are supplied with dry cellulose fibres from a fibre blower 7 via a fibre distribution conduit 8, and with a latex glue solution from a glue reservoir 9 via a glue distribution conduit 10.
- a supply roll 11 with a membrane cloth 12 is arranged at the start of belt conveyor 1, a roller 13 hangs above belt conveyor 1 and between the top part 4 and bottom part 2 of belt conveyor 1 is arranged an air distribution conduit 14 for transporting dry and hot air as according to arrows 15 through the top part 4 and the board to be formed thereon.

- dry cellulose fibres are carried by means of a transport gas, for instance air, via distribution conduit 8 to spray nozzles 6, where these fibres are sprayed with latex glue supplied via distribution conduit 10, whereafter the thus pre-glued fibres and the glue are sprayed at high speed onto membrane 12, thus forming a layer 17 which, using roller 13, is brought to a desired uniform thickness and is dried by hot dry air from air conduit 14 to form a fibre board 27, which in a later processing step is separated into the desired lengths which can if desired be finished.
