Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel system for a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1 and is based on US 5,647,329.
- Fuel systems for motor vehicles with a Fuel filters are provided, the fuel filter being inside and / or can be installed outside of a fuel tank.
- This fuel filter are usually only flowed through in one direction. This sets in on the Side of the filter on which the fuel flows into the fuel filter, in the course of Waste the dirt contained in the fuel more and more. At a high A portion of the dirt in the fuel can form a filter cake over time leads to an increase in flow resistance. This increases the Performance requirement for a fuel pump located in the fuel system on.
- US 5,647,329 describes one in the fuel tank built-in fuel pump with a fuel filter and a pressure regulator and an associated reservoir, from which reservoir after the Fuel pump or the motor vehicle engine to which this fuel pump promotes the fuel, fuel should flow in the opposite direction, to flush the fuel filter.
- rinsed out of the filter Dirt particles remain in the vicinity of the filter and during a new conveyor operation the fuel pump can be sucked back into the filter immediately. in the otherwise, the flushing of the fuel filter is likely in this known prior art done only very limited after following the detailed description in US 5,647,329 the so-called reservoir within the fuel tank is open and therefore depressurized.
- DE 25 05 925 A is a fuel delivery system with a pressurized fuel reservoir
- the pressure in the fuel delivery system is maintained for a long time.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a fuel system for a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1, with which the fuel filter is flushed in such an effective manner that the flow resistance of the fuel filter does not or only relatively over the running time of the vehicle increases slightly. This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.
- the fuel system according to the invention has a fuel filter in which a Deposit pan is formed.
- a pressure accumulator in the fuel system installed so that the fuel in the pressure accumulator after the parking of an engine of the motor vehicle relaxes and the filter of the Fuel outlet side or clean side to the fuel inlet side or dirt side flushed. This advantageously results in that on the fuel inlet side Accumulated dirt loosens from the filter and settles in the deposit pan collects.
- the deposit trough according to the invention is advantageously by a Structure of the housing, for example by the formation of guide vanes, so designed that the deposit pan is not flowed through by fuel, so that the deposited dirt is not whirled up.
- the fuel filter according to the invention can advantageously on the pressure side or suction side in the fuel system, d. H. behind or in front of the fuel pump, to be ordered.
- a delay valve is in the Fuel system provided to build up pressure after starting the engine not affect the fuel system by filling the pressure accumulator.
- the fuel system according to the invention advantageously results in a longer service life of the fuel filter. It is also advantageous that the construction of the fuel filter according to the invention a reduction in the filter volume compared to a known fuel filter with the same Service life is possible.
- the flow resistance of the fuel filter is approximately constant. This must the fuel pump of the fuel system only the normal pressure and not one Apply increased pressure as with a clogged fuel filter so that the lifespan of the fuel pump is longer compared to using fuel systems conventional fuel filters.
- the fuel filter, the pressure regulator, the fuel pump, the check valve, the pressure accumulator and possibly the surge pot is executable, so that the number of sealing points lower and thus the emissions are lower.
- FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment of a fuel system 1, in which one Fuel pump 2 from a fuel tank 3, for example via a not illustrated surge pot, fuel 4 via lines 5 to a fuel filter 6 promotes.
- the fuel filter 6 has a housing 7 in which a filter material 8, For example, filter cloth or filter paper is arranged.
- a deposit pan 9 in the housing 7 which is arranged or protected so that the filter material by the 8th flowing fuel 4 that accumulates in the deposit pan 9 Dirt 10 not affected.
- 7 guide vanes in the housing or baffles can be provided, which a whirling up in the Deposit pan 9 of dirt 10 due to the fuel flow prevent.
- the fuel filter 6 has on the housing 7 at least one inlet opening 11 for the fuel to be cleaned 4 and at least one outlet opening 12 from which the cleaned fuel 4 into a Line 13 flows.
- the filter material 8 adjoining the inlet opening 11 Soiled the fastest, for this reason, this side of the filter material 8 hereinafter referred to as the dirt side.
- With the line 13 is at one Branch 20 connected to a line 14 leading to a pressure accumulator 15.
- the cleaned fuel 4 flows through a check valve 16 and one itself subsequent pressure regulator 17 through a line 21 to a motor 18.
- the fuel pump 2 delivers a predetermined amount while the engine 18 is running Fuel 4 in the pressure accumulator 15, for example as a diaphragm pressure accumulator can be trained. After the engine 18 has been switched off, relaxation takes place of the pressure accumulator 15, so that the one located in the pressure accumulator 15 Fuel 4 via line 13 and through outlet 12 back into the Fuel filter 6 flows and there flushes the filter material 8, so that the particular Dirt 10 accumulated on the dirt side of the filter material 8 triggers and arrives in the deposit tub 9 through appropriate precautions. The Flushing fuel 4 then flows through the inlet opening 11 Lines 5 via the fuel pump 2 to the suction point 19 in the fuel tank 3 back. The arrangement of the check valve 16 between the Branch 20 to the pressure accumulator 15 and the pressure regulator 17 is prevented that the line 21 to the engine 18 when flushing the fuel filter 6th emptied.
- the second embodiment of the fuel system 1 shown in FIG. 2 differs from the first embodiment of the fuel system shown in FIG 1 in that the fuel filter 6 is arranged on the suction side.
- Flow direction of the fuel 4 While in FIG. 1 the fuel system 1 with the engine 18 running, as shown by the arrows indicated flow direction of the fuel 4, the figure shows 2, the fuel system 1 after switching off the engine 18, in which the in the Pressure accumulator 15 fuel 4 via the fuel pump 2 and Fuel filter 6 flows back into the fuel tank 3, as is also the case Arrows is marked.
- the fuel pump 2 sucks fuel 4 accordingly via the fuel filter 6 out of the fuel tank 3 and delivers this fuel 4 via Check valve 16 and a pressure regulator 17 to a motor 18. In addition a predetermined when the engine 18 or the fuel pump 2 is operating Amount of fuel 4 fed into the pressure accumulator 15.
- a delay valve can be in the branch line 14 may be provided so that after starting the engine 18 the pressure accumulator 15 delayed with fuel 4 is filled.
