Ausführungsbeispiel:
- Eine Mehrzahl von Büchern wird in einer Vorrichtung, wie sie in EP 0 918 105 A2 im einzelnen beschrieben wird derart plaziert, daß die Bücher mit dem Rücken nach unten sich zur Oberseite hin öffnend auf einem hin- und herbewegbaren Wagen angeordnet sind, der in einem geschlossenen Raum angeordnet ist.
- Es wird Unterdruck angelegt und über einen Meßfühler die Temperatur im Inneren des die Bücher umschließenden Raumes gemessen. Der Druck wird solange abgesenkt, bis die Temperatur auf minus 15°C gefallen ist.
- Bei dieser Temperatur von minus 15°C wird das Vakuum ca. drei Minuten aufrechterhalten.
- Es folgt eine Befüllung mit CO2, wobei das CO2 für ca. weitere drei Minuten in dem Raum belassen wird.
- Das CO2 wird abgepumpt und über Düsen wird zur Säurebehandlung ein alkalischer Wirkstoff aufgewirbelt und zwischen die Buchseiten gebracht.
- Nach Abschluß dieser Behandlung wird der geschlossene Raum wieder belüftet und die Bücher werden entnommen.
