Abstract
Description
There are many timepieces displaying universal time, in especially wrist watches and pocket watches. The hour system most commonly used universal features a rotating bezel on which is inscribed with the names of twenty-four cities, each representing a time zone hourly, as well as a twenty-four hour disc numbered from 1 to 24. The disc of twenty-four hours is linked kinematically to the hands of the display clockwise and rotates counter-clockwise one revolution in twenty-four hours. These timepieces allow an easy and instantaneous reading of universal time because there is no manipulation to do. It suffices to look on the telescope for the city whose time you want to know and then read the adjacent figure on the twenty-four hour disc. However these watches have the disadvantage of having to reset the watch on time during a change of time zone, manipulations which can be long and complicated and the time elapsing during handling is not counted. In some cases, this requires subsequent time setting. A second universal time system also includes a rotating bezel with twenty-four cities, a central needle making a twenty-four turn hours and which is independent of the hands of the time display, the digits of 1 to 24 forming part of the dial. The disadvantage of this system is that indirect reading of universal time. It is indeed necessary to reposition the telescope to know the time of a city at different times of the day.
The object of the present invention is to offer a timepiece which aforementioned drawbacks, which allows a reading without manipulation of the time universal and whose correction when changing time zones is as simple as possible. The licensee has developed a mechanism for achieve this goal, a mechanism described in the published German patent application No DE 197 16 693. Such a timepiece allowing a change of time zone has a twenty-four hour disc, a city disc rotary and a correction mechanism kinematically connecting the twenty-four disc hours, the cities disc and the hour hand so as to make make 1 / 24th of a turn anti-clockwise to the two discs and do advance the hour hand by one hour for each time zone correction schedule.
This mechanism has the characteristic that the displacements of discs and the hour hand are obtained using a spring beforehand armed by a pusher. In such a construction, we are led to use a large spring so that the spring force is sufficient to carry out the correction on the three moving elements.
The present invention aims to remedy this drawback and has for
object a timepiece as described in
The invention will now be described in detail with reference to the drawing. attached which illustrates by way of example the mechanism of the timepiece universal hours.
Figure 1 is a plan view of the watch object of the present invention showing local time.
Figure 2 illustrates the watch of Figure 1 and the movement of the different parts when changing time zones.
La figure 3 illustre la montre des figures 1 et 2 une fois mise à l'heure suite à un changement de fuseau horaire.FIG. 3 illustrates the watch of FIGS. 1 and 2 once set to the time following a time zone change.
Figure 4 is a partially exploded top view of the mechanism allowing time zone correction.
Referring to Figures 1 to 3, the watch has an
heures 3 en regard de Paris (12).When the user changes time zone and wants to put his watch on
time, just press the button at 10 o'clock, shown
schematically by arrow F, the number of times necessary to bring the
city corresponding to the new time zone at 12 o'clock in front of the marker

This mechanism includes a
The 24 hour star, attached to the additional 27 hour wheel,
causes the latter to rotate. The
la denture de l'étoile des heures 24 qui porte l'aiguille des heures 6.To allow the hours to be corrected without disrupting the time setting
the
heures 22.The
This
The correction mechanism also includes a brake 33 pivoted on the pin 34. This brake comprises a spring 35 tending to hold the brake in active position, the brake shoe 36 then being in contact with the teeth of the hour wheel, keeping it in place and preventing the minute hand does not move during correction.
de rappel 14.In the inactive rest position, this brake is kept out of contact with the
