Abstract

An ammunition box for belted ammunition has a low friction coating on the inside bottom to support the rounds standing on the bottom. The loops of the belt are separated by thin vertical walls and the belt is taken out of the box by an exit slot. To assist the transfer of heavy caliber rounds the belted ammunition is guided out of the box via a star shaped wheel. Access to the ammunition is via a removable lid. The separating walls can be fitted with profiled combs to hold the ammunition and with end rollers to guide the belt loops.

Description

The invention relates to containers for taped ammunition, in which this between partition walls Forms loops, the container having a bottom and walls. Such containers are used for rapid firearms of larger calibers, mainly but not exclusively, in combat vehicles. With these it depends to store as much ammunition as possible to save space so that it can be pulled out easily to allow the strap out of the container.

A generic container is known from DE 31 16 073 A1. With this, however hang the loops between partitions and the container must allow for this of pulling out to the extent that individual loops are pulled out become. This requires an additional drive and its own synchronization and Control devices for this drive. In addition, the hanging arrangement requires Taking off considerable and widely varying forces.

Furthermore, a generic container is known from US Pat. No. 2,710,561, in which the loops hang between partitions, but which is not movable. This requires latches to cause the ammunition forming the loops to fall back through it To prevent dead weight.

The aim of the invention is to design a generic container so that it is light Undressing is guaranteed. According to the invention, the belted ammunition is in the The container, which is stored on the floor, slides with its bottom when pulled off this and a wall has a vertically directed outlet opening for this. Thereby the pull-out forces are much smaller and more uniform, which in experiments could be demonstrated. These low pull-out forces allow the belt to be held despite pull off the fixed container at a fixed opening, even though the belted Ammunition passed the exposed cartridges that formed the other loops must become.

In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the floor has a plastic covering low coefficient of friction (claim 2). This reduces the pull-out required Force continues. In many cases, this means that there is no need for a star wheel, the weapon loading mechanism can overcome the reduced friction.

In another embodiment, a star wheel is at the outlet opening Removing the belted ammunition provided, however, this and its drive be trained very easily because of the low forces. To make loading easier a removable cover is advantageously provided (claim 3).

The direction of the partition walls can vary depending on the spatial conditions and the arrangement be adjusted in the vehicle. If the partitions are parallel to the side walls are arranged (claim 4), the pull-out forces when the container is full, the lowest at the start of the fire.

When used in combat vehicles, there is a risk that individuals will be at a strong incline Shift dreams. This is prevented by placing the partitions on one side horizontal guides with semicircular recesses and rounded transitions have (claim 5). Because the guides only on one side - namely that of the strand of a loop pulled from the back to the front - arranged and are rounded, they prevent the cartridges from slipping, but without pulling them out hinder.

In an advantageous development, the intermediate walls have at their free end Deflection rollers on (claim 6). These make it easier to pull out the belted ammunition, especially if the respective loop is far from the outlet opening.

The container according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is essentially one cuboid metal construction. It consists of a floor 1, a top wall 2 (see FIG. 2), first and second side walls 3, 4, a rear wall 5 and one Front wall 6 with removable cover 7. Is on the front wall 6, adjacent to the first side wall 3, a vertical outlet opening 8 is formed. In the so formed Space vertical partition walls are provided, which are attached to the floor 1.

In this container, the individual cartridges 11, connected by members 12 one Gurtes stored upright. Because of the partitions 10 and the relatively tight packing there is no risk of individual cartridges falling over. For easy peeling the floor 1 is provided with a plastic covering 13 with a low coefficient of friction. The strapped Cartridges 11 are inserted so that they are between the individual partitions 10 loops 14 form and so that that of the outlet opening 8 furthest removed loop is pulled out first. In Figure 1 it can be seen that the strapped Ammunition from the rearmost loop to the outlet opening 8 forms a withdrawal strand 15. Due to the vertical arrangement of the individual cartridges and the low coefficient of friction of the Plastic covering 13 ensures that the pull-off strand 15 from the exposed cartridge 16 is only slightly disabled.

In the illustrated embodiment, the vertical outlet opening 8 is still connected a withdrawal channel 20 in which a star wheel is attached. Such may be necessary be when the belt has to travel a longer way to the weapon Has.

The embodiment shown in Figures 3 and 4 differs from that previous in that the partitions 30 parallel to the direction of the pull-out strand 35 are arranged. It is pulled out in a straight line continuation of the first loop 34. To prevent the belted ammunition from slipping when sloping or on a downhill slope to prevent 30 guides 40 are attached to one side of the partition walls, the Recesses 41 partially enclose the cartridges. The guides 40 are only on the Side of the partition attached to the belted ammunition from behind is pulled off at the front. The recesses 41 have roundings so that the Pulling out the belt is not hindered. Are for the same purpose at the free Ends of the intermediate walls 30 rollers 43 are provided. They act as deflection rollers.

The ammunition container according to the invention is particularly suitable for installation in the tower a combat vehicle suitable, the individual cartridges in a known manner in a corresponding guide channel from the vertical to the horizontal position can be.
