Definitions

  • a common feature of these devices is that breathing gas is supplied to the space delimited by the mask or hood. If a fault should occur so that the supply of breathing gas ceases or becomes insufficient, for instance as a result of a mechanical fault in the equipment or because the supply of breathing gas has been exhausted, no fresh gas will be supplied to the wearer of the equipment. As a result, the carbon dioxide content of the available breathing air will build-up while the oxygen content diminishes at the same time, which can quickly lead to suffocation.

Claims (8)

  1. Appareil de respiration incluant un masque de respiration, un casque de respiration (1) ou analogues, et une conduite (2) pour alimenter le gaz respiratoire au masque ou au casque, caractérisé par un moyen de soupape (4) qui est normalement fermé en utilisation et qui, lorsqu'il est ouvert, relie l'espace intérieur du masque ou du casque (1) à l'atmosphère extérieure pour permettre que ladite atmosphère soit respirée ; et par un moyen (8, 11) pour détecter lorsque l'alimentation en gaz respiratoire arrivant dans le masque ou dans le casque (1) a chuté en dessous d'un niveau donné et pour ouvrir ledit moyen de soupape conformément aux présentes indications.
  2. Appareil de respiration selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le moyen de soupape (4) est commandé par pression et est construit pour s'ouvrir lorsque la pression dans la conduite de gaz respiratoire (2) a chuté en dessous d'une valeur prédéterminée.
  3. Appareil de respiration selon la revendication 2, caractérisé en ce que le moyen de soupape (4) comprend un corps de soupape chargé par ressort (8) qui est pressé en aboutement d'étanchéité contre un siège de soupape lorsque la pression dans la conduite de gaz respiratoire (2) excède ladite valeur, mais qui est déplacé en éloignement du siège de soupape par la force dudit ressort lorsque la pression chute en dessous de ladite valeur.
  4. Appareil de respiration selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que le corps de soupape a la forme d'une plaque de soupape chargée par ressort (8) qui est actionnée par la pression du gaz respiratoire.
  5. Appareil de respiration selon la revendication 4, caractérisé en ce que la plaque de soupape (8) est logée dans un logement (10) destiné à être fixé sur une ouverture (6) pratiquée dans le masque ou dans le casque (1) ; en ce que le logement comprend une chambre (9) qui communique avec la conduite de gaz respiratoire (2) et une paroi de laquelle est entièrement ou partiellement formée de ladite plaque (8) ; en ce que la plaque agit pour fermer l'ouverture (6) lorsque la pression prévalant dans la chambre (9) est suffisante à cette fin ; et en ce que des passages (13) sont ménagés pour relier l'intérieur du masque ou du casque à l'atmosphère extérieure lorsque la plaque est déplacée en éloignement de l'ouverture.
  6. Appareil de respiration selon la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que le flux de gaz respiratoire est amené à s'écouler à travers la chambre (9) avant d'être délivré au masque ou au casque (1).
  7. Appareil de respiration selon la revendication 5 ou 6, caractérisé en ce que la plaque (8) est montée de manière étanche dans le logement (10) à l'aide d'un diaphragme flexible (12).
  8. Appareil de respiration selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7, caractérisé par un moyen de filtre disposé dans le passage séparant le moyen de soupape de l'atmosphère extérieure.
