Definitions
- the invention relates to a rear connector. designed to be assembled with a connector, on the side of wiring, in order to provide this connector with an accessory intended for example to hold cables and / or provide a seal.
- the removable rear connector conforms to the invention can be used on any connector having a threaded rear section.
- the fitting according to the invention can however be used on other connector types such as fiber connectors optics, mixed connectors, etc.
- Existing rear fittings include a nut ring, intended to be screwed onto the rear threaded section of the connector.
- This ring door through one or more branches, a cable retention system formed for example of two half flanges capable of being tightened one against the other by means of screws.
- the branches that connect the ring to the cable retention system are shaped to give the cables the desired orientation. So, cables can be kept in line with the connector or in an angled orientation relative to to this axis, for example at 45 ° or 90 °.
- any maintenance operation involving replacement of the fitting or part of it also requires logout and then the replace all cables when the replacement has been made.
- the disadvantages of a such operation are the same as when the cables have been connected to the connector, omitting install the rear connector beforehand.
- the subject of the invention is precisely a removable rear connection including original design allows it to be mounted on a connector whose wiring has already been done, or removed from it connector, without the need to disconnect cables.
- Such a rear connection can be mounted easily on a connector with or without sound wiring, or disassembled, which solves all the problems posed by the fittings of prior art.
- the assembly is carried out by putting everything first put in place the first articulated sub-assembly, so that the two parts of the arc necklace circle be closed on the cable harness just behind the threaded rear section of the connector. We then simultaneously circle this rear section threaded as well as the collar formed by the first sub-assembly articulated, closing the second sub-assembly articulated around these two elements.
- the collar formed by the first subset articulated has a front face provided with anti-rotation means able to cooperate with means complementary formed on a rear face of the connector.
- anti-rotation means can in particular be constituted by a toothed crown formed on the front side of the collar.
- the stepped rear section of the inner surface of the second articulated sub-assembly has an annular groove which cooperates with a annular rib formed on the outer surface of the necklace.
- the second subset articulated is formed by two semicircular ring parts articulated end to end and able to be connected at their opposite ends by an organ removable such as a screw oriented parallel to the axes of said ring parts.
- an organ removable such as a screw oriented parallel to the axes of said ring parts.
- the first subset articulated advantageously comprises two collar parts semi-circular, rigidly attached to the first ends of two branches, and a half flange on which is articulated the opposite end of at least one of the two branches.
- the two branches can be articulated on the half flange, or a only branches are articulated on the half-flange, the other branch being rigidly fixed thereto.
- Cable tie means such as second half flange, are then mounted on the half flange of the first articulated sub-assembly, via removable fastening means.
- the ends of these parts of necklace are preferably of complementary shapes, so as to fit into each other.
- reference 10 generally designates a connector on which be fitted with a removable rear connector conforming to the invention.
- connection removable rear according to the invention can be used on different types of connectors, so that the connector 10 illustrated in the figures does not constitutes an example which should not be considered as limiting the possible uses of the fitting according to the invention.
- connector 10 is an electrical connector multi-conductor circular, intended to be mounted on a panel with screws (not shown) passing through holes 12 formed in a plate 14.
- the connector 10 is in this case a fixed connector, comprising cylindrical cells 16 which open onto the face front of the connector, and in which can be received from male contacts 17.
- a connector mobile with female contacts can also be directly mated.
- the connector 10 has a cylindrical barrel 18 on which is machined a threaded rear section 20. Behind this threaded rear section 20, the cylindrical barrel 18 has a rear face on which is formed at minus a tooth 22, of triangular shape. As in no way limitative example, three teeth 22 can be provided on the rear face of the cylindrical barrel 18, these teeth being regularly distributed around the axis of connector 10.
- a bundle of cables 24 is connected to the connector 10. More precisely, each of the cables 24 is electrically connected to a male contact 17 which is then introduced into one of the cavities cylindrical 16 of this connector 10, from the rear to the front, and leads to the front of the connector.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 the main components of a fitting removable rear according to the invention, suitable for mounted on connector 10, or removed from it, without any of the cables 24 of the bundle having to be unlocked from connector 10.
- the removable rear connector conforms to the invention comprises a first articulated sub-assembly, generally designated by reference 26 on the figures, and a second articulated sub-assembly, in ring shape, generally designated by the reference 28. A detailed description of each of these subsets will now be made.
- the first articulated sub-assembly 26 is formed of three parts 30a, 30b and 32, each of parts 30a and 30b being articulated on part 32 by an axis 34a, 34b.
- each of the pieces 30a and 30b includes a semi-circular collar portion 36a, 36b and a branch 38a, 38b including one first end is rigidly attached to the part of semi-circular necklace which corresponds to it.
- the branches 38a and 38b and the semi-circular collar parts 36a and 36b can in particular be carried out in one piece.
- the branches 38a and 38b are substantially straight, connected in the middle semicircular collar portions 36a and 36b, and oriented parallel to the axis of the collar part corresponding.
- the third part 32 of the first subset articulated 26 is a half flange at the ends which are articulated parts 30a and 30b. More specifically, parts 30a and 30b are articulated on the half-flange 32 by the ends of the branches 38a and 38b opposite to those which support the parts of semicircular collar 36a and 36b. Axes 34a and 34b are oriented parallel to each other, according to directions orthogonal to the axes of the parts of semicircular collar 36a and 36b.
- the arrangement which has just been described allows to the first articulated subset 26 to be able to occupy at will be an open position, illustrated on the Figure 1, in which the two parts 30a and 30b are pivoted apart from each other around the axes 34a and 34b, i.e. a closed position, illustrated on the Figure 2, in which the parts 30a and 30b are in support one against the other by the ends of the semi-circular collar parts 36a and 36b.
- the two semi-circular collar parts 36a and 36b form a necklace which encircles the cable harness 24 completely, behind the face rear of cylindrical barrel 18 of connector 10.
- the opposite ends of these collar parts are of complementary shapes, so as to fit one in the other. So the ends of part 36a have respectively a projection 48a and a hollow 50a, while the corresponding ends of the part 36b have a hollow (not visible on the figures) and a projection 48b.
- the collar then formed by the two parts of collar 36a and 36b has, on its front face, anti-rotation means constituted by a toothed crown 52. More specifically, this toothed crown 52 is formed of triangular teeth complementary to the teeth 22 which protrude from the rear face of the barrel cylindrical 18 of connector 10. These teeth triangular are machined on the front of each semicircular collar portions 36a and 36b.
- the anti-rotation means formed by the toothed crown 52 thus cooperate with the means complementary formed by teeth 22, for immobilize in rotation the first subset articulated 26 with respect to connector 10, when this first subset occupies its closed position and when kept pressed against the back side of the barrel 18 by the second articulated sub-assembly 28, as shown in Figure 2.
- annular rib 54 gives to the outer surface of the necklace a stepped shape which we will see later that it makes it possible to link in translation the second articulated sub-assembly 28 to the first sub-assembly articulated 26, while allowing their rotation relative, when these two subsets are in closed position.
- the annular rib 54 is formed of two parts, machined respectively on each of two parts of semi-circular collar 36a and 36b.
- this second articulated sub-assembly 28 is formed of two semicircular ring parts 56a and 56b, hinged end to end by an axis 58, oriented parallel to the axes of each of these two parts.
- This arrangement allows the second subset articulated 28 to occupy at will be a position open, shown in the figures, allowing its placement and removal, i.e. a position closed (not shown), in which the second sub-assembly 28 forms a ring.
- the second articulated sub-assembly 28 When in the closed position, the second articulated sub-assembly 28 surrounds them overlapping the back of connector 10 and the front of first subset 26. More specifically, the second articulated sub-assembly 28 then surrounds at the times the threaded rear section 20 formed on the barrel cylindrical 18 of connector 10 and the surface exterior in steps 54 of the collar formed by the two semi-circular collar parts 36a and 36b of the first articulated sub-assembly 26.
- this second sub-assembly has, on its inner surface, a tapped front section 60 and a rear section in bleachers materialized by an annular groove 62, when in the closed position.
- the front section tapped 60 and annular groove 62 are machined respectively on each of the two ring parts semicircular 56a and 56b, as illustrated in particular Figure 1. More specifically, the front section threaded 60 is complementary to the rear section threaded 20 of the connector and the rear section in bleachers 62 is complementary to the exterior surface in steps 54 of the collar formed by the first sub-assembly articulated 26, when in the closed position.
- the ends of the two semi-circular ring parts 56a and 56b opposite the axis of articulation 58 are provided to be connected to each other by a removable member such as a screw 64.
- This screw 64 is preferably oriented parallel to the axes of the semicircular ring parts 56a and 56b, i.e. parallel to the axis of the connector when the second articulated sub-assembly 28 is in position closed and placed around the back end of the connector and the front end of the first sub-assembly articulated 26. This characteristic allows perform the assembly and disassembly of the second articulated sub-assembly 28 even when the connector 10 is located in a highly congested area, and especially next to other connectors.
- the half-flange 32 supports detachable cable clamp means constituted in this case by a second half-flange 66.
- This second half flange 66 is designed to be mounted on the half flange 32 by removable fixing means constituted in this case by two screws 68.
- the screws 68 pass through machined holes at the ends of the second half-flange 66 and come to be screwed in threads formed in axes 34a and 34b by which parts 30a and 30b are articulated on the half-flange 32.
- axes 34a and 34b and the axis 58 are advantageously constituted by tubular rivets.
- first mount the first articulated subset 26 For this purpose, we place this first subset in the open position illustrated in Figure 1, such that the half flange 32 either bear against the cable harness 24 and that the two parts of the necklace in an arc of a circle 36a and 36b are located behind the cylindrical barrel 18 of the connector 10.
- the first articulated sub-assembly 26 is then brought into its closed position illustrated on the Figure 2, so that the collar formed by the two parts 36a and 36b surround the cable harness 24, immediately behind the cylindrical barrel 18.
- the second articulated sub-assembly 28 is then closed by folding down the second ring part semi-circular, so as to completely encircle the rear threaded section 20 of connector and rib ring 54 of the first articulated sub-assembly 26.
- the second articulated sub-assembly 28 is locked in this position closed by means of the screw 64.
- the ring formed by the second articulated sub-assembly 28 is screwed onto the threaded rear section 20 of the connector 10 until the crown gear 52 is fully pressed against the teeth 22.
- the second half-flange 66 is fixed to the first half-flange 32 by the screws 68.
- the cable harness 24 is then clamped between the two half flanges 32 and 66.
- disassembly can be done by performing the operations described above, in reverse order, again without disconnecting cables 24.
- the function of the rear fitting removable according to the invention can be a function different from what has been described, such as a sealing function.
- the bodies ensuring sealing are then supported by the first sub-assembly articulated, in the same way as the organs intended to hold the cable harness in the example described.
- the fitting removable rear serves to hold the beam of cables
- Maintaining the wiring harness can be secured by wiring hoops, sleeves heat-shrinkable, etc.
- the orientation between these means for holding the cable bundle and the axis connector may be different from orientation coaxial described. So the wiring harness can be oriented for example at 45 ° or 90 ° to the axis of the connector, giving branches 38a and 38b angled shapes.
