Cable storage device (2) with a housing (4, 5, 6) for storing an electrical cable (7) in the form of cable coils, wherein a winding body is suitable for winding up the cable coils on the circumference thereof and wherein the cable storage device (2) is suitable for holding a first cable end portion and for withdrawal of a second cable end portion projecting out of the housing (4, 5, 6), which winding body consists of a spring element, the circumference of which is variable, whereby an effective winding length is variable for a constant number of cable coils, the spring element is constructed as an elastic open or spiral ring (13), the two end portions (15, 17) of which are movable relative to one another, and wherein the first end portion (15) of the spring element is held in the housing (4, 5, 6) and the second end portion (17) of the spring element is movable relative thereto, characterised in that the movable second end portion (17) of the spring element is guided in the inner wall of the spring element.
  2. Cable storage device according to claim 1, characterised in that the first end portion (15) of the spring element is held in the region of the first cable end portion in the cable storage device (2).
  3. Cable storage device according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the housing (4, 5, 6) has an opening suitable for leading the cable (7) to the outside and that the first end portion (15) of the spring element is held in the region of the opening (9).
  4. Cable storage device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the housing (4, 5, 6) has an inner wall for circumferential limitation of the cable coils and that the inner wall of the housing (4, 5, 6) is constructed in correspondence with the shape of the spring element.
  5. Cable storage device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the housing (4, 5, 6) bounds a storage space (3) and that the clear width of the storage space (3) perpendicularly to the circumference of the spring element is substantially equal to the outer diameter of the cable (7).
  6. Small electrical household appliance, such as, for example, an iron, with a cable storage device according to one of claims 1 to 5.
