Definitions
- the present invention relates to Jacquard machines for training the crowd on weaving machines and it relates more particularly to harnesses which are coupled to the movable actuating members of these machines for controlling the yarns of chain.
- a harness includes a multitude of cords in number equal to that of the actuating organs of mechanics, each of these cords connecting to one or more arches which are themselves connected to the door rails -oei llet.
- the cords and arches are connected using carabiners, which are very difficult to maneuver, and it can be seen that the subsequent disassembly and reassembly of a harness during its repair or replacement involve the handling of several thousand carabiners. The operation is therefore long and tedious and results in an expensive production shutdown. It is this drawback that the present invention intends to remedy, and this, using an assembly collar which is arranged so that its operation is simple and rapid, requiring only the displacement of a part in the axial direction.
- the assembly collar according to the invention comprises two male and female elements which are respectively fixed to the ends of the cord and of the yoke to be connected so as to be able to be fitted axially one inside the other.
- the female element contains at least one jaw whose jaws are profiled so as to pinch the male element immediately behind a harpoon point provided at the end thereof.
- the latter is equipped, behind the harpoon point, with a ring or shuttle which is axially movable in order to control the jaws at opening and closing.
- the bearing surface of each jaw against the shuttle is substantially axial when the jaw is in the open position.
- the bearing surface of the jaw against the rear of the harpoon point is substantially radial when the jaw is in the closed position.
- the axial length of the shuttle is greater than the distance between the external surface of the jaws and the rear face of the harpoon point when the male part is completely inserted into the female element.
- the shuttle is not likely to escape the jaws by being pushed between the jaws and the harpoon point. This characteristic makes it possible to avoid any risk of jamming of the shuttle.
- FIG. 2 shows in perspective with cutaway
- the two components of an assembly collar according to the invention and - Figures 3 to 6 are axial sections on a larger scale illustrating the successive phases of the process of operating the collar.
- Reference 1 designates a weaving mechanism of the VERDOL or JACQUARD type, supported above the weaving machine by a structure 2.
- Each of the usual cords 3 of mechanics 1 is assembled, by means of a removable collar A, to one or more arches 5 which cross a board with holes 6 below which each of them passes through a grouting board 7 and carries a thread guide eyelet 8 before attaching to a return spring 9 attached to a bottom board 10, placed below the weaving machine (not shown).
- Each collar 4 comprises two parts, namely a female element 11 made integral with one or more arches 5, and a male element or end piece 12 whose lower part cooperates with the element 11.
- the female element 11 is constituted by a tubular cylindrical part open upwards, obtained by molding a semi-rigid synthetic material capable of deforming elastically. Below its upper outlet, this part 11 is cut longitudinally from slots which define two opposite jaws 13 independent of one another, the lower end of which is bent to form a beak or jaw 13a with a slightly profile concave.
- the male end piece 12 is constituted by a cylindrical piece of rigid plastic material, the lower end of which is profiled to form a harpoon point 12a.
- a shuttle 14 constituted by a ring provided slotted to be susceptible, by means of momentary elastic deformation, to be engaged on the rod 12b, between the aforementioned point 12a and an annular shoulder 12c of the male end piece 12.
- the upper part of the latter is provided axially hollow to receive and retain the end of one of the cords 3 of the mechanics, in the same way as the base of L female element 11 of the collar is arranged to receive and retain the end of one or more arches 5.
- each of the collars 4 according to the invention is in the coupled position illus ⁇ trée in Figure 3.
- the harpoon point 12a is engaged in the female element 11 and is located in an axial position such that the lower jaws 13a are arranged immediately above said tip, so that the latter is thus " retained in place and prohibits any dissociation of the elements 11 and 12.
- the jaws 13 are thus in the closed position.
- each jaw 13 thus works in flexion when the harpoon tip tends to move, which is compatible with the mechanical properties of the semi-rigid synthetic material used for the jaws 13. This is particularly advantageous compared to a device in which the jaws would rest against the back of the harpoon point on their field because the jaws would then be subjected to creep by vibrations due to the movements of the loom and surrounding looms and by the load due to the weight of the harness, which could cause them to break or deform towards the shuttle and may lock the shuttle in position.
- the bearing surface of the jaws 13a at the rear of the harpoon point 12a is substantially radial prevents a point-shaped edge or the field of the jaw 13a from being pressed against the point 12a, which could result in premature wear due to the vibrations and load already mentioned.
- the position of the jaws 13a relative to the harpoon point 12a makes it possible to withstand the significant mechanical stresses which the collar undergoes. It is understood that, if the rear face of the tip 12a is not perpendicular to the axis of translation of the latter but has a positive angle relative to the horizontal so that the tip has a shaped profile arrow,
- the external surface of the jaws 13a can be adapted so that, when the device is in the position in FIG. 3, the external face of the jaws 13a and the rear face of the harpoon point are in support One against L 'other and substantially parallel.
- the shuttle 14 arrives at the end of the high travel by bearing against the annular shoulder 12c as shown in FIG. 4, so that the jaws 13a, after having been ordered Upon opening by a chamfer 14a provided on the lower edge of said shuttle, pinch it which is then firmly secured axially to the jaws 13 and the female element 11, the jaws then being in their position opened.
- the chamfer 14a contributes to facilitating the opening of the jaws 13a by the shuttle 14, it being observed that the combination of the curved jaw 13a and the chamfer 14a makes it possible to obtain a large radial displacement of the jaws with a small axial displacement, and, consequently , a good dimensioning of the spans while respecting a minimum overall dimensions, which constitutes a capital criterion in a Jacquard harness having regard to the very large quantity of components which must not have interference between them while occupying a total surface as small as possible.
- the surface of the jaws 13a opposite the cylindrical rod 12b is flared in the direction of the chamfer 14a, which contributes to the opening of the jaws.
- the length L of the shuttle 14 is greater than the distance l between the external surface jaws 13a and the rear face of the harpoon point 12a when an upper shoulder 12d of the part 12 is in abutment against the upper part of the female element 11, as shown in FIG. 4.
- the operator reverses its axial force and tends to separate the two elements 11 and 12 from one another, so that the shuttle 14, still gripped by the jaws 13a, moves downward along the cylindrical part 12b.
- the shuttle 14 still gripped by the jaws 13a
- the radial clearance between the cylindrical part of the male element 12 located between the two shoulders 12c and 12d and the annular inlet of the female element 11 is small enough that the range between this cylindrical part and this entry serves as an axial guide to the male element 12 in the female element 11.
- This axial guide allows in the first place to maintain good alignment of the parts during the dynamic operation of the mechanics, thereby ensuring the '' obtaining optimum geometries at the jaw supports and avoiding premature wear of the parts.
- this same axial guidance prevents the shuttle 14 from being misaligned with the axis of the female element 11 during its movements relative to the jaws 13a while any misalignment is likely to result in the shuttle being jammed. 14, and therefore in blocking the collar.
- the continuation of the movement of separation of the two elements 11 and 12 causes them to dissociate in the manner illustrated in FIG. 2.
- the shuttle 14 can be given a frustoconical profile with a large base facing the point of the point 12a, so that the pinching of the jaws on said shuttle brings the latter back towards the aforementioned point during the operation of uncoupling.
