Dies geschieht durch eine Betätigung des Plunger-Zylinders, der im Bereich der Distanzstücke integriert ist. Dieses Maß muß beibehalten werden, um den Kaltstrangkopf und den bereits erkalteten Fuß des warmen Stranges durch das Verformungsgerüst passieren zu lassen. Sobald der Kaltstrangkopf das jeweilige Strangführungssegment verläßt, wird der Plunger drucklos geschaltet und Ober- sowie Unterrahmen durch die Hydraulik-Differential-Zylinder auf das endgültige Gießwalzmaß eingestellt.
