In der Leitung zwischen Ofen und Entstaubungsanlage ist eine Druckerhöhung vorgesehen, die bei Betrieb im stromlosen Ofen einen Unterdruck erzeugt. Hierdurch wird das Gas aus dem mit Möller gefüllten Ofen abgezogen, wobei durch die Verbindungsleitung mit dem sich in Betrieb befindlichen Ofen aus diesem Rauchgas abgesaugt wird. Gleichzeitig wird bei dem sich im Betrieb befindenden Ofen der ebenfalls vorhandene Rauchgaskrümmer abgesperrt, so daß die Zuluft im wesentlichen aus dem Bereich der Dichtlinie zwischen Deckel und Gefäß aufgenommen wird. Der Weg des Gases ist somit von dem Bereich oberhalb des Möllers des in Betrieb befindlichen Ofens durch die Schrottsäule hindurch oberhalb des Schmelzenspiegels über die Verbindungsleitung zum Nachbarofen, dort diagonal durch den Ofen strömend und dabei die Wärme an den Schrott abgebend und oberhalb der Möllersäule durch den Rauchgaskanal endgültig zur Gasreinigungsanlage und von dort ins Freie.
