Description

The invention relates to a heat exchanger for the treatment of a fluid, in particular for the cooling of a high temperature air flow coming from the turbo compressor of an industrial vehicle.

Heat exchangers are already known which comprise two fluid boxes, a multiplicity of intermediate bars arranged in pairs, as well as a multiplicity of plates arranged in pairs to frame said pairs of bars and form, in collaboration with them, circulation chambers of the fluid.

An exchanger of this type is known in particular from French patent No 80 06704 published under No. 2,479,438, which comprises pairs of longitudinal and transverse bars, each pair of longitudinal bars being framed at its ends by two pairs of transverse bars, positioned perpendicular to them.

In this known type of exchanger, the longitudinal bars collaborate with the plates to form fluid circulation chambers, while the transverse bars serve both as spacers between two successive chambers, and as fluid circulation vents between the boxes fluid and the room they frame.

The major drawback of this exchanger killer lies in the complexity of the assembly of the various elements which constitute it.

Indeed, in order to make this stack of plates and bars rigid, it is necessary to screw each longitudinal bar onto lateral metal frames. The elements are then brazed together, then each transverse bar is screwed onto the fluid boxes.

L'invention a notamment pour but de remédier à cet inconvénient. The object of the invention is in particular to remedy this drawback.

To this end, it offers a heat exchanger of the type defined above in which, according to the invention, each box fluid comprises a manifold plate provided with openings adapted to receive end portions of the pairs of bars, and openings adapted to allow the free circulation of the fluid between the chambers and the fluid boxes.

Furthermore, the ends of the pairs of plates are folded back and fixed against the collector plates so that two facing plates, belonging respectively to two consecutive chambers, have their ends turned towards one another, thus forming conduits in which can circulate an air flow to be treated.

The heat exchanger thus formed no longer requires the use of transverse bars which are advantageously replaced by the openings made in the collector plates. The full space between two openings then serves as a separation interlayer between two chambers, thus directly creating air circulation ducts.

These conduits will also be made more rigid by placing the ends of the plates belonging to two consecutive chambers in head-to-tail position.

The folded ends of the pairs of plates are advantageously turned towards one another.

The length of the openings is significantly less than the width of a header plate. Consequently, substantially linear bars could not be housed in such openings, since they would not be opposite them. This is why, according to another characteristic of the invention, each bar comprises a substantially linear central part, which extends parallel to the longitudinal edge of the plates and extended on either side by a bent part to allow the embedding of said bar in an opening, each bent part being extended by an end part housed in a fluid box.

In a first embodiment, each pair of bars is embedded in the same opening which serves to both housing for bars and fluid circulation mouth.

In this embodiment, the end parts of the pairs of bars are folded back on themselves by forming an arc of a circle, so that these end parts are in contact to block said bars against the ends of the opening in which they are housed.

Each bar of the pair thus formed is blocked transversely in the opening since the end parts of the pair of bars repel each other by constraint effect.

In a second embodiment, each bar of a pair of bars is embedded in an opening of the same section as said bar, forming a housing. Each housing is positioned substantially symmetrically on either side of a central opening forming a mouth for circulation of the fluid.

In this embodiment, each bar is immobilized independently.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the collector plates comprise fixing lugs for holding the folded ends belonging respectively to a first and a last chamber.

These fixing lugs thus allow the assembly and stacking of the successive chambers before the introduction of the exchanger into a brazing furnace.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the conduits comprise first spacers forming fins, to increase the heat exchange surface.

The conduits advantageously constituted by plates, the ends of which are head to tail, provide effective protection for these fragile fins, and in particular during the assembly step.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the external faces of a first and of a last plate are capable of receiving second spacers forming fins.

Advantageously, the invention provides that these second spacers have a height substantially double that of the first spacers, which significantly increases the heat exchange surface.

According to a last characteristic of the invention, the exchanger comprises at least one end cheek capable of protecting a second interlayer and integral with the two fluid boxes.

  • la figure 1 est une vue schématique latérale d'une partie de l'échangeur selon l'invention;
In the description which follows, given solely by way of example, reference is made to the appended drawings, in which:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic side view of a part of the exchanger according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view, partly broken away, of a part of the exchanger according to a first embodiment of the invention; and
  • Figure 3 is an exploded perspective and partially trachea part of the exchanger according to a second embodiment of the invention.

Figure 1 shows schematically a part of an exchanger of the type known as bars and plates which comprises pairs of bars framed by two plates 2a and 2b. The plate 2a is the so-called lower plate, the plate 2b being the so-called upper plate. Each bar 1 defines a level, level 1 corresponding to the first bar and level n to the last bar.

As shown diagrammatically in FIG. 2, each level 1 corresponds to two bars 1a and 1b forming a pair of bars. Each pair thus forms, in collaboration with the pair of plates 2a and 2b which surround it, a chamber 3 in which a refrigerant fluid coming from a fluid box 4 can circulate.

This cooling fluid may for example be the cooling water of a supercharged engine of an industrial vehicle.

Each plate 2 comprises an end portion 5 curved so that it forms a right angle with the main part of the plate. Thus, each lower plate 2a has an end portion 5a bent downward, and each upper plate 2b has an end portion 5b bent upward.

The plates 2b and 2a, facing one another and belonging to two consecutive chambers, thus have their respective end portions 5b and 5a positioned head to tail, and bearing on one another.

This arrangement advantageously makes it possible to produce, between two consecutive chambers 3, a free space forming a conduit 6 in which the fluid to be treated can flow.

This fluid is for example an air flow coming from a turbocharger of an industrial vehicle. Its temperature can be notably higher than 100 ° C., which requires efficient cooling, such as that produced by the exchanger according to the invention. To increase the heat exchange surface between the air flow 15 to be treated and the cooling fluid, there are housed, inside the conduits 6, first spacers 7 forming dissipation fins.

The two end parts 5 of the plates are substantially in contact with a collecting plate 8 serving as a cover for a fluid box 4.

As shown in Figures 2 and 3, each manifold plate 8 comprises openings 9 of substantially parallel-piped shape and parallel to each other.

Each of these openings 9 is capable of forming a housing for receiving the ends C of a pair of bars and / or forming a mouth to allow the free circulation of the coolant. between a chamber 3 and a fluid box 4 opposite which it is located.

A cet effet, les ouvertures 9 s'étendent parallèlement à l'un des côtés de la plaque collectrice 8, lequel est parallèle au plan des chambres 3.To this end, the openings 9 extend parallel to one of the sides of the collecting plate 8, which is parallel to the plane of the chambers 3.

For obvious reasons, the length of an opening 9 can only be less than the distance which separates two bars 1a and 1b of the same pair.

A, which extends parallel to the longitudinal edge of the plates 2, and extended on either side by a bent part B, itself extended by a terminal part C.

Each bar can thus be embedded thanks to its bent part B in an opening 9, the terminal part C then being housed in the fluid box 4.

According to a first embodiment of the invention (FIG. 2), an opening 9a is made to correspond to a chamber 3.

There will therefore be as many openings 9a as there are levels.

Each opening 9a is able both to receive the ends C of a pair of bars, and to allow the free circulation of the refrigerant.

Consequently, the height of the opening 9a is substantially equal (by lower value) to the distance which separates two plates 2a and 2b from the same chamber 3 and its length is substantially equal (by higher value) to the distance which separates the outer edges of the bent parts C of a pair of bars.

In this first embodiment, each end part C of the same pair of bars is folded back on itself by forming an arc of a circle oriented towards the center of the opening 9a. The radius of curvature of the terminal parts C is chosen so that two terminal parts C of one same pair of bars are in contact at an end portion 13 and repel each other. Under these conditions, each bar 1 is blocked by stress against the ends of the opening 9a in which it is embedded.

According to a second embodiment of the invention (FIG. 3), three openings 9b and 9c are grouped into a chamber 3 grouped into two categories according to their use.

There will therefore be three times more openings than levels.

A first category of openings 9b, mouth shape to allow the free circulation of the fluid between the fluid box 4 and the chamber 3 opposite which it is located. The length of these openings 9b is substantially less than the space which separates the internal edges of the two bent parts C of a pair of bars, their height being substantially equal (by lower value) to the space between two plates 2a and 2b in the same room 3.

Sa section est donc identique à celle de la barrette 1 (par valeur sensiblement supérieure).A second category of openings 9c, forming a housing, is capable of receiving a bar 1 and only one. Its section is therefore identical to that of the bar 1 (by a substantially greater value).

Each opening 9c forming a housing for a bar is positioned substantially symmetrically on either side of the opening 9b forming a mouth.

Each bar 1 of a pair is therefore blocked independently in an opening 9c.

The chambers are stacked, before brazing, by means of the fixing of two fixing lugs 10a and 10b, respectively below the location provided for the terminal part 5a of the first plate 2a and above the location provided for the terminal part 5b of the last plate 2b.

In this way, the end parts 5a and 5b of the first and last plates are held tightly against the collector plates 8.

Finally, to increase the heat exchange surface, second inserts are fixed under the first plate 5a and on the last plate 5b, forming fins.

Furthermore, in order to better protect the second upper and lower tabs 11, it may prove useful, under certain conditions of space, to be housed below the lower tab 11, and above the upper tab 11 , a plate called "end cheek" 12. These cheeks 12 will be fixed directly to the fluid boxes 4. These cheeks may also include buttonholes to allow the exchanger to be fixed.

For this, the brazing process described by French patent 69 433 487 filed by the company CHAUSSON will preferably be implemented.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown diagrammatically and described in detail in the present description. Various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the claims.

In particular, the shape of the terminal parts of the bars can be modified to facilitate the circulation of the fluid.
