Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device forming a cup adaptable to a beverage container.
  • the invention relates to a cup or glass which, for its operation, is supplied at the same time as a metal container of standard type of drink, currently commonly used to market different types of drink.
  • the container 10 comprises a cylindrical side wall 12 connected to a bottom 13.
  • the side wall 12 ends in a cylindrical collar 14 whose diameter is less than that of the side wall 12.
  • On this collar is fixed by crimping a cover 16 whose the edge 18 forms a bead protruding from the flange 14.
  • the cover 16 has a pre-cut zone 20 in the form of a tongue associated with a foldable metal gripping ring 22 secured to the cover 16 by l 'through a rivet 24.
  • the precut area 20 is surrounded by two po_. ons projecting from the upper face of the current part of the cover 16, referenced 26 and 28. These projecting portions are arranged substantially along radii of the cover.
  • the ring 22 is lifted, which causes the portion 20 of the remainder of the cover 16 to be partially cut and to sink into the interior of the container itself.
  • Such beverage containers have the advantage of having a simple opening mode and of being lighter than glass packaging.
  • consuming its contents is difficult and can become very dangerous and unhealthy.
  • the edges become very sharp and the risk of injury by cutting the upper lip is not negligible.
  • this mode of absorption of the drink is unsanitary since the part of the lid which will be brought into contact with the lips is not protected during all the manipulations of the container.
  • the content consumption is difficult, the gesture that requires this consumption is not conventional.
  • the cup device adaptable to a standard beverage container comprising a cylindrical body closed at its upper part by a cover crimped on a flange extending said cylindrical body, the crimping forming an annular bead s' extending outside of said flange, is characterized in that it comprises a cylindrical side wall whose inside diameter is substantially equal to the outside diameter of said container and a bottom, the connection zone between said bottom and said side wall being provided on its internal face of means for fixing said cup device to the bead of said container, said fixing means comprising an annular groove in which said bead can penetrate and at least one extension projecting from the external periphery of said groove towards the inside of the latter to cooperate with the face of said bead facing the cylin body drique of said bead when said cup device is engaged on said container whereby said fixing is obtained.
  • the extensions are deformable and after clipping, they cooperate with the underside of the bead. It will be understood that, thanks to the invention, not only is the cup device closely associated with the container when it is placed on the market, but also, by its position, the cup constitutes protection for the lid and the upper part of the cylindrical wall of the container.
  • the cup device corresponding to the case where the container has a lid provided with at least one localized projecting zone with respect to the current part of the external face of the cover, is characterized in that the internal face of the bottom of the cup has a raised portion forming a cam capable of cooperating with the projecting zone of said cover to cause lifting of said cover by rotation of the cup device relative to the container, said extension being elastically deformed to release said cup device from the container.
  • the bottom of the annular groove of the cup is provided with elastic annular sealing means capable of cooperating with the upper face of the bead of the container when the cup device is fully engaged on said container.
  • the cup can be put back in place on the container after the latter has been opened and the contents partially consumed, the cup then constituting a tight lid for the previously opened container.
  • FIG. 3 is a partial vertical sectional view showing a first embodiment of the cup device partially engaged on the container;
  • FIG. 4 is a bottom view in section along the line IV-IV of Figure 3;
  • FIG. 5 is a partial view in vertical section showing in more detail the embodiment of the annular groove in the cup-forming device.
  • Figure 6 is a partial sectional view of an alternative embodiment of the cup device.
  • FIG. 7 is a partial sectional view of the bottom of the cup and the upper part of the container showing a second embodiment.
  • cup device which will later be called for simplification cup or glass, is specially adapted to the type of container already described in connection with Figures 1 and 2.
  • this type of container is currently used for the marketing of a very large number of drinks, we understand that its use is very developed.
  • the cup 30 has a cylindrical side wall 32, a bottom 34 whose periphery is connected to the cylindrical side wall 32 by an annular connection zone 36.
  • the internal diameter D of the side wall 32 is substantially equal to that of the outer diameter D 'of the container.
  • T clearance between the two surfaces is of the order of 1 mm.
  • the length of the side wall of the cup is at least equal to 50% of the length of the side wall 12 of the container, and preferably equal to 80%.
  • the entire cup 30 is preferably made of moldable plastic material and having the required elasticity properties.
  • the plastic material is preferably transparent in order to leave visible the graphics which are generally affixed to the container.
  • the inner face of the annular connection zone 36 is provided with an annular groove 40 whose depth and width correspond to the dimensions of the crimping flange 18 of the beverage container 10.
  • Figure 4 shows that in the connection area 36 there are provided several pins such as 42, 44, etc. which project from the outer edge 40a of the groove 40 and partially seal the latter. These pins 42, 44, etc. have a sufficient size to engage on the underside 18a of the bead 18 when the glass 30 is fully engaged on the container 10. We understand that these pins 42, 44, etc. ensure that the cup is clipped onto the bead 18 and therefore onto the container 10.
  • Figure 3 shows that the side wall 32 of the cup is provided with internal grooves 46 which extend from the free edge 32a of the side wall to a region near the bottom of the cup. It is understood that these grooves 46 are intended to allow the evacuation of the air which would otherwise be trapped between the cup and the upper part of the container when the cup is placed on the container. Indeed, it is desirable that the side wall 32 of the cup is slightly tightened on the side wall of the container 10. They also make it possible to collect the residue of the liquid remaining at the bottom of the cup. Alternatively, the grooves could be replaced by ribs.
  • Figure 5 shows that, preferably, an annular seal 48 is disposed at the bottom of the annular groove 40.
  • This seal having a certain elasticity is intended to cooperate with the upper face of the bead 18 when the cup is snapped onto the container. This gives a very good seal between the cup and the container, which allows the cup to perform the function of a tight lid when the container has already been opened.
  • the seal 48 can be independent or produced by molding at the same time as the entire cup.
  • lugs 40 ensure effective clipping of the cup on the container 10, it is advantageous to provide an arrangement making it possible to separate the cup 30 from the container 10 without the user having to exert a significant effort.
  • This raised part preferably has a cross section in the shape of a triangle, for example isosceles, and it extends from the internal periphery of the annular groove 40 and stops to leave a free area 54 in the center of the bottom of the cover 34 of radius h.
  • FIG 4 there are shown two elements forming a cam or lifting ramp 50 and 52 but it could very well be only one.
  • the ramps 50 and 52 can cooperate with the projecting elements 26 and 28 of the cover 16 of the container.
  • the cooperation between the ramps 50, 52 and the protruding parts 26 and 28 of the container lid causes the lifting of the whole cup, which results in the elastic deformation of the pins 42, 44 and the release of the cup. relative to the container.
  • the beads 26 and 28 remain and the folding tab 22 is pivotable around the rivet 24. Therefore, the lifting effect thanks to the presence of the ramps 50 and 52 is obtained even if the container has already been open, that is to say if the portion 20 of the cover has already been cut.
  • the action of the cams allows a progressive release of the cover, which avoids the risks which could result from direct traction on the cup.
  • FIG. 6 shows an alternative embodiment of the cup.
  • the cover 16 of the container 10 has two external projections such as 60, preferably diametrically opposite.
  • the internal face 34a of the bottom 34 of the cup is provided with two diametrically opposite cams such as 62 having the shape of arcs of a concentric circle at the bottom of the cup.
  • Each cam has a triangular shape in the direction of its length and is formed by two inclined ramps.
  • FIG 6 other improvements of the cup device are shown. This may advantageously include an external tab 64 forming an integral part of the cup which forms a hook allowing the user to hang the cup-container assembly on his belt.
  • the external face of the cup in its connection zone 36 is provided with an annular groove 68.
  • this groove allows the attachment of the heat-shrinkable film which secures the containers together.
  • the annular groove can be replaced by any other means of attachment of the heat-shrinkable film.
  • the external face 70 of the bottom 34 of the cup has an annular rib 72 provided with clipping means 74. It is thus possible to put there a round label carrying advertising information.
  • Figure 7 shows an alternative embodiment of the locking means or fixing the cup 30 on the crimping flange 18 of the container.
  • This bead 18 has on its lateral face two recesses such as 80 diametrically opposite in the form of propeller portions. They thus form two recessed ramps which extend from the lower face to the upper face of the bead in the bead 18.
  • the internal face 82 of the groove 36 of the cup has two projecting lugs such as 84 which are diametrically opposite. The pins can penetrate into the recesses.
  • the pins are in abutment on the lower face 18a of the bead 18 thus ensuring a tightening which makes it possible to obtain the desired seal between the beaker and the bead of the beaker container on the container.
  • the ramps or cams 50 and 52 or 62 ( Figure 6) are of course useless.
  • the cup device fulfills a triple role: it serves as glass when it is separated from the container; it serves to protect the lid of the container against the risks of soiling or contamination and it serves as a tight lid when the beverage container has been opened.
