A wheeled suitcase having three or more wheels, wherein the wheels (2, 4) run on shafts (10, 12) supported in elastomeric bushes (14, 16), which are in turn connected to the suitcase wall (9), characterised in that at least one of the shafts (10, 12) extends through its bush (14, 16) at an angle such that the associated wheel (2, 4) runs (at 22, 24) against a part (6, 8, 6', 8') fixed to the suitcase and is thus braked, and in that the shaft (10, 12) is engaged by a clamping device (26) for clamping the shaft in a position such that the wheel (2, 4) can be disengaged from the part (6, 8, 6', 8') fixed to the suitcase and can thus roll freely on the shaft (10, 12).
  2. A wheeled suitcase according to claim 1, characterised in that the shaft (10, 12) has an extension (15, 17) beyond the bush (14, 16) into the suitcase, and in that the clamping device (26) engages said extension (15, 17).
  3. A wheeled suitcase according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that two wheels (2, 4) situated consecutively in the direction of travel of the suitcase are so supported in the said manner that the shafts (10, 12) of the two wheels are inclined in opposite directions to one another in a common horizontal plane in the unloaded state and in that the shafts of the two wheels are subjected to the action of a joint clamping device (26) which pulls them towards one another until they are in a parallel position (a, b) perpendicular to the direction of travel.
  4. A wheeled suitcase according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the clamping device (26) is a pulley system to which an actuating force can be applied by means of a pull strap (28) with a handle (30).
  5. A wheeled suitcase according to claim 4, characterised in that the pulley system (26) is accommodated in the base of the suitcase and in that the pull strap (28) is taken to the front of the suitcase inside the latter from the base of the suitcase, and is then deflected upwardly and extends parallel to the front wall (11) of the suitcase on the inside thereof and emerges from a slot (38) at the top end of the front wall (11) for connection to the handle (30).
  6. A wheeled suitcase according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that an elastic restoring force acts on the shaft (10, 12) in the direction to restore the original inclined position of the shaft.
  7. A wheeled suitcase according to claim 6, characterised in that the elastic restoring force is applied to the shaft (10, 12) by the bush (14, 16).
  8. A wheeled suitcase according to any one of claims 4 or 5 to 7 insofar as they are appended to claim 4, characterised in that the pull strap (28) is connected, at its end remote from the clamping device (26), to a reversing pulley (32) around which a second pull strap (36) is wound, one end of which is internally fixed to the suitcase wall (15) having the handle (13) while its other end is taken out through a slot (38) in the front wall (11) for connection to the handle (30), and in that the reversing pulley (32) is engaged by one end of a return spring (34) the other end of which is fixed internally to the front wall (11) of the suitcase and contributes to returning the two pull straps (38, 36) into a wheel braking position which restores the inclined position of the shaft (10, 12).
  9. A wheeled suitcase according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the wheels (2, 4) are largely accommodated in recesses (6, 8) in the suitcase wall (9) and in the state when they are not loaded by the clamping device (26) they run against locations (22, 24) in these recesses.
  10. A wheeled suitcase according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the wheels (2, 4) in the state when they are not subjected to loading by the clamping device (26) run against brake blocks (6', 8') which are fixed interchangeably on the suitcase, more particularly in recesses (6, 8) provided for the wheels (2, 4).
