Description

The invention relates to a coating device according to the preamble of claim 1. Such a coating device is known from US Pat. No. 4,848,268. In this device, the web is preferably coated on both sides in a press nip formed by a pair of rollers after the coating composition has been applied beforehand the surface of the rollers has been applied. So-called nozzle chamber applicators are used for the application, which form order spaces on the material web or here the roller shells which are at least slightly overpressured. The coating slip is supplied to the application areas via a nozzle orifice or a nozzle orifice channel from a receiving chamber for the coating compound. The pressure in the application area is generally at least 1.01 bar (about 0.01-0.5 bar gauge pressure) and can be significantly higher, especially if a coating slip, i.e. pigment coating slip, is applied. Both types of coating are therefore possible and only for the sake of brevity the term coating device is used for the purposes of this application. The inlet-side gap of the application space, which is formed by a barrier wall, must be adjustable, but the exact adjustment of this gap is somewhat difficult in the prior art.

The object of the invention is to regulate the existing excess amount of coating slip, the so-called Circulation quantity to create an exact control possibility.

This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of patent claim 1.

The invention is explained below on the basis of the exemplary embodiments illustrated in the figures of the drawing. In principle, FIG. 1 shows a cross section through the coating device according to the invention in a first embodiment, FIG. 2 shows a corresponding representation of a second embodiment, FIG. 3 shows a detail relating to FIGS. 1 and 2, FIGS. 4 and 5 shows a detail relating to FIG. 2 relating to the scraper bar, FIG. 6 a further detail relating to FIG. 2 also relating to the scraper bar and FIG. 7 representing a detail relating to FIGS. 1 and 6.

In FIG. 1 there is a carrier 1 of the coating device which carries a metering device 2 which carries a doctor blade 4 held by an elastic doctor bed 5 via a leaf spring-like holder 3. Roller doctor 4 is pressed against the outer surface of the roller W indicated by the dash-dotted line with the radius R via a pneumatic pressure hose 9 which is fastened to a holder 8 which is also located on the carrier 1. The leaf spring 3 is clamped to the carrier 1 via a slide plate 15. The running direction of the shell of the roller W is indicated by the arrow, and there is a barrier wall 10 in the direction of rotation in front of the metering element 2, which forms a throttled outlet gap on the lateral surface of the roller and limits an application space 7 formed on the metering element 2 on the inlet side. This order room has one more or less high overpressure to the atmosphere between 0.01 and 0.5 bar. An excess quantity Q1 flows out of the order space 7 along a guide bar 16 through the throttle gap of the barrier wall 10.

A further outlet 11 is provided, which consists of individual openings 12 of the barrier wall 10 and openings (openings) 13 of a throttle slide 14, which extends parallel to the roller axis. By moving the slide 14, the overlap of the openings 12 and 13 and thus the free passage cross-section for the outlet 11 can be changed, so that the amount Q2 and thus the total amount of discharge or overflow can be easily adjusted. At the roller W, a narrow, constant throttle gap of the barrier wall 10 (the smallest distance 3 of this bar from the roller - at the beginning - see also FIG. 6) - or the corresponding smallest drainage width (gap width) is preferably 1 to about 5 mm and for this purpose the support wall 19 for the barrier wall 10 and the slide 14 can be adjusted. This wall is fastened to a front wall 18 of an outlet channel 6, which supplies the coating slip (coating compound in general) to the application space 7 from a receiving chamber, not shown here. This receiving chamber receives the coating compound from a pump via a line system, which is also not shown in detail here.

The amount Q1 is relatively small and is at most 30%, preferably at most 20% of the total amount and can be guided towards zero by the leaf spring 40 indicated by dash-dotted lines.

In the running direction in front of the barrier wall 10 there is a locking bar 21 which also forms a relatively narrow gap on the roller in order to largely keep the air entrained by the outer surface away from the application device. This locking bar is held on the wall 19 via a bracket 24 and support rods 22.

Teflon. The majority of the coating device 50 of FIG. 1, which is also provided here per se, is not shown in detail in FIG. 2. In a modification of FIG. 1, a scraper strip 35 - preferably made of rubber or rubber-elastic plastic - is provided on the roller jacket on the inlet side in front of the coating device 50, which edge causes the roller surface to be cleaned with an edge 38. Of course, this scraper bar also keeps the air away from the coating device. The scraper strip 35 is pressed against the roller jacket by a leaf spring 33, provided that the pressure hose 34 counteracting the leaf spring is depressurized. If this is pressurized, the scraper bar 35 is pressed less and less - so that a controllable contact pressure can be obtained - and finally removed from the roll surface at a correspondingly high pressure. This is necessary when starting up the coating device if there is still no lubrication from the coating slip. A holder 24 'is provided for the scraper strip 35, and the pressure hose 34 is held in a strip 31 thereof. As in FIG. 1, the holder 24 'is also fastened to a corresponding wall of the coating device via holding rods 22'. The components identified by the reference numerals provided with a comma correspond to similar components in other figures. The Scraper bar 35 is preferably made of rubber or plastic, such as Teflon.

Wegen der Form der Durchbrüche 26 ist hier die Sperrwand 10' zweiteilig ausgebildet.FIG. 3 shows a detailed illustration of a throttle strip 25, which is designed as a rotary slide valve and for this purpose has recesses 27 which, by means of openings 26 in the barrier wall 10, form drainage channels for excess coating slip. Because of the shape of the openings 26, the barrier wall 10 'is formed in two parts here.

An die Rippe 42 schließt sich dann ein kompakter Teil 40 an.FIG. 4 shows a detailed illustration of a scraper strip 35 'corresponding to FIG. 2, which has a scraper head 41 held by a thin rib 42 in the manner of a wiper. A compact part 40 then adjoins the rib 42.

The scraper strip 35 or 35 'cleans the outer surface of the roller from adhering paint particles, fibers etc. and of course also scrapes off the air entrained by the outer surface.

In order to be able to position the scraper head 45 carried by a web 44 against the lateral surface of the roller, an integrated component with an integrated pressure hose 46 is provided here, which is carried by the holding strip 24 ″. When the pressure is removed from the pressure hose 46, the scraper head 45 moves away from the roll shell.

Die Länge des Kanals 11' bis zur Drosselleiste 14' beträgt mindestens 80 mm.FIG. 6 shows a variant of FIG. 1, in which the drain channel 11 'is relatively long and at the end of which the throttle strip 14 'is arranged. A channel support 29 fastened to an adjustable locking wall 27 is provided here, which has the openings 30 assigned to the openings of the locking bar 14 'and in this respect defining the free passage cross section. In the vicinity of the roll shell, the channel 11 'is covered by a cover plate 28. The advantage here is that the color flow going to the metering bar is not significantly influenced by the branched overflow stream going out through the channel 11 '- in particular viewed over the length of the metering bar 4 - and is not influenced irregularly. The length of the channel 11 'to the throttle strip 14' is at least 80 mm.

Fig. 8)The rubber-like locking element 44 of FIG. 5, e.g. by means of an appropriate holder for its hose part (see FIG. 8)

The setting of the narrowest gap - on the wall 28 - can e.g. analogously as in the case of FIG. 1 by the height-adjustable support wall 27. An adjustable bar 41 or such bars of different heights (widths) can also be provided.

Figur 7 zeigt in Ansicht A die Überdeckung der Öffnungen 30 durch die entsprechenden Fensteröffnungen des Drosselschiebers 14', was prinzipiell auch für Figur 1 gilt.FIG. 7 shows in view A the covering of the openings 30 by the corresponding window openings of the throttle slide 14 ', which in principle also applies to FIG. 1.
