Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method and a device according to the preambles of claims 1 and 5.
  • Injection lances with which coal dust as a substitute fuel, for example for lumpy coke and heating oil, are blown into the hot wind pipe of a blast furnace by means of a carrier gas, have long been used in the smelting of iron ores (Stahl und Eisen 110, 1990, p. 35 up to 40).
  • the known blowing lance consists of a central tube that is used to supply heating oil.
  • the central tube is surrounded concentrically by a multi-walled outer tube, in which oxygen is supplied, which serves to atomize and burn the fuel oil emerging from the central tube.
  • the outer tube has a coolant channel, which enables coolant circulation in the outer tube via a feed connector and a discharge connector.
  • the present invention is based on the object of making available a method and a device for carrying out the method which enable stronger cooling of the blowing lance which reduces the burn-back.
  • the method according to the invention is characterized by the features of claim 1.
  • the coal dust is blown in through the central channel and a mixture of oxygen-containing gas and the cooling fluid is blown in through an annular channel surrounding the central channel.
  • coal dust is blown through the central channel, oxygen-containing gas through the inner and the cooling fluid through the outer ring channel. This enables independent pressure control for the oxygen-containing gas and the cooling fluid.
