Definitions

  • the invention relates to a spray head for a spray container for dispensing foam, the spray container having a manually operable dispensing valve in a dispensing channel which can be plugged together with an outlet channel of the spray head, and the spray head having a closure element which closes the outlet duct automatically and with a delay relative to the dispensing valve, downstream of the dispensing valve and can be placed on the spray container with a peripheral wall in a snap fit.
  • the closure element hermetically closes, the product residue remaining between the dispensing valve and the outlet opening can re-foam in the closed outlet channel and, if appropriate, open the closure element again under the pressure of the foam, so that foam continues to flow out.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a spray head of the generic type, in which the emerging foam has a higher strength and an outflow of foam is avoided after closing the closure element.
  • the closure element has a membrane made of elastically resilient material, that the membrane has at least one through hole lying radially outside the opening of the outlet channel and rests under spring tension on the edge of the outlet opening of the outlet channel, or that the membrane has only one through hole has, which rests under spring tension of the membrane with its edge on the free end of a pin held in the outlet channel by a radial web with axial openings.
  • the membrane acts as a foam outlet brake, since the opening of the closure element is also delayed compared to the opening of the dispensing valve and the closure element allows gases but no liquids to escape in its closed position.
  • the foam strength is increased by the action of the delayed opening closure element as a foam outlet brake. Due to the non-hermetic closing and the still possible gas outlet, after-foaming and outflow of foam is avoided at the same time.
  • the closure element is easy to manufacture and assemble.
  • the spray head known from GB-A-1 226 565 has a membrane provided with a through hole.
  • the through hole widens sufficiently when the dispensing valve is open, so that in the event of a blockage due to dried-out product residues discharged from the container, they can be loosened in the through hole and blown out of it.
  • a pin fastened in the outlet channel protrudes into the through hole, the pin and through hole forming a seal which only opens a passage when there is considerable excess pressure.
  • the membrane does not bear against the pin under pre-tension.
  • a membrane covering an outlet bore in a stopper and perforated radially outside of the outlet bore only functions as a pressure relief valve in order to let gas escape at an overpressure due to heating of the contents of the container.
  • the pin is preferably held coaxially in the outlet channel.
  • the outlet channel can be divided into a first section and a second section which can be plugged together and has the closure element.
  • the first section can form the conventional outlet channel, into which the second section can simply be inserted in the desired configuration.
  • the second section of the outlet channel can then be expanded toward the closure element.
  • closure element can be held in a snap fit or friction on the free end of the outlet channel.
  • the spray head has an upper wall which has a flexible connection to the peripheral wall only on one side of an outlet tube which delimits the outlet channel and is connected to the upper wall, the outlet tube being dependent upon (also) actuation of the outlet valve the dispensing tube serving the spray container can be plugged on.
  • the actuating attachment 1 has a vertical outlet pipe 5, which forms a first section of an outlet channel 6 and into which a pipe socket 7 of the closure cap 2 is inserted, the pipe socket 7 forming a second section of the outlet channel 6.
  • the outlet pipe 5 and the pipe socket 7 are held tightly together in the frictional engagement.
  • the axially lower section of the outlet tube 5 forms a socket 8 for receiving the outlet end of an outlet tube of the outlet valve.
  • the outlet channel 6 is partially blocked by a baffle 9 extending transversely therein, on which the aqueous aerosol liquid released from the spray container can initially foam.
  • the upper wall 10 of the actuating attachment 1 is connected in one piece only on one side (in FIG. 1) of the outlet pipe 5 to the upper edge of a radially outer peripheral wall 11 of the actuating attachment 1 which can be snapped onto the upper edge of the spray container.
  • the wall 10 is made of flexible material. Therefore, by depressing one of the connection points between the walls 10 and 11 diametrically opposite actuating step 12, pressure can be exerted on the dispensing tube of the dispensing valve which engages in the socket 8.
  • the dispensing valve is opened by depressing the dispensing tube, which at the same time forms a closure part of the dispensing valve.
  • the closure element 3 is shaped like a mushroom and axially inserted into the outlet channel 6 with its stem 13.
  • the handle 13 has a radial projection 14 in the form of a circumferential bead, which engages under an undercut 15, which is also formed by a bead protruding radially inwards in the outlet channel 6.
  • the radial projection 14 In the closed position of the closure element 3 shown in FIG. 1, this rests with the edge 16 of its mushroom head 17 on the edge 18 of the outlet opening of the outlet channel 6.
  • the radial projection 14 has an axial distance d from the undercut 15, through which the stroke of the closure element 3, which is made of rigid material, is determined and limited.
  • Axial through channels 19 penetrate the radial projection 14 up to the upper side of the projection forming the undercut 15.
  • the mushroom head 17 of the closure element 3 is sunk largely flush in an axial recess 20 in the mushroom-like extension of the closure attachment 2.
  • the dispensing valve closes while the Closure element 3 continues to maintain the open position under the pressure of the foam.
  • the closure element 3 In the upright position of the spray container and accordingly the vertical position of the outlet channel 6, the closure element 3 now sinks back into the closed position when the foam pressure decreases. Alternatively, the closure element 3 can also be pushed back manually into the closed position when the leaked foam is wiped off. In the closed position, gas can continue to escape through the non-hermetically sealed closing gap between the closure element 3 and the closure attachment 2, while the foam or liquid which forms in the outlet channel 6 is retained and at the same time it is prevented that the product residue remaining in the outlet channel can change under air access .
  • the top of the actuating attachment 1a is designed as an approximately cup-shaped projection 21, on the bottom 22 of which the outlet pipe 5 is formed.
  • the outlet channel 6 tapers in the region of the base 22 and is surrounded on the top by an axially projecting sealing edge 23.
  • the closure element 3b in the form of a hood made of elastically resilient rubber-like material is snap-fitted onto the top of the projection 21, a radially inwardly projecting annular bead of the closure element 3b engaging in a radially outer circumferential groove of the projection 21 and the bottom of the hood forming a membrane, which rests under spring preload on the sealing edge 23 which forms the edge of the outlet opening of the outlet channel 6.
  • the bottom or the membrane of the hood forming the closure element 3b is provided radially outside the sealing edge 23 with through holes 24 which, in the illustrated closed position of the closure element 3b, are caused by the membrane resting against the Sealing edge 23 are blocked against the escape of foam or liquid, but not against the passage of gas, the pressure of which is higher than the closing force of the membrane.
  • the dispensing valve (not shown) is again opened first, and then, after the formation of foam under sufficient pressure in the outlet channel 6 of the outlet pipe 5, the membrane is lifted off the sealing edge 23, so that the foam can exit through the through holes 24. Conversely, after the pressure has been removed from the actuation stage 12 and the dispensing valve has closed, the membrane only returns to the illustrated closed position after the pressure in the outlet channel 6 has decreased.
  • the perforated membrane acts as a foam brake.
  • a baffle is not provided.
  • the outlet pipe 5a runs vertically in the region of the socket 8 and then horizontally after a right-angled bend in order to be able to spray the foam largely horizontally or more conveniently downwards.
  • An annular groove 25 is formed concentrically with the outlet channel 6 in the end face of the outlet pipe 5a.
  • the closure element 3c again has the shape of a hood, which, however, is placed in frictional engagement on the free end of the outlet pipe 5a.
  • the bottom of the closure hood 3c again forms a membrane made of elastically resilient rubber-like material with through holes 24, which are aligned with the annular groove 25 and, in the closed position shown, are blocked off by the membrane resting against the edge 23a of the outlet opening of the outlet channel 6.
  • the dispensing valve (not shown) of the spray container is also opened here.
  • the released product liquid in which propellant is dissolved or emulsified, the task of which is to inflate the liquid, flows against the wall 9 of the outlet pipe 5a, which extends transversely to the direction of flow, in the region of the socket 8, this wall 9 in turn functioning as a baffle has to let the liquid in the outlet channel 6 foam up. Only then does the pressure rising in the outlet channel 6 lift the membrane of the closure element 3c from the edge 23a of the outlet opening of the outlet channel 6, so that the foam which forms can escape. Here, too, the membrane of the closure element 3c again forms a foam outlet brake, which contributes to the solidification of the foam.
  • the actuating attachment 1c largely corresponds to the actuating attachment 1 according to FIGS. 1 and 2, only that the baffle 9 is omitted.
  • the pipe socket 7b which also widens radially toward the upper free end, contains a coaxial pin 26, which is held coaxially in the outlet channel 6 by a radial web 27 with axial openings 28.
  • the closure element 3d in turn has approximately the shape of a hood or a pot, which is held with its peripheral wall in a snap fit in a coaxial annular groove in the end face of the pipe socket 7b and consists of elastically resilient rubber-like material.
  • the bottom of the hood or pot 3d forms a membrane which has a through hole 24 in the middle, which is blocked off by the membrane resting against the pin 26 in the closed position shown in FIG. 5.
  • the closure element 3d or its membrane is brought into the opening or closing position with a delay depending on the pressure in the outlet channel 6 compared to the opening and closing of the dispensing valve (not shown) by lifting the elastic membrane from the pin 26 or is brought back into contact with this pin 26 by its spring force.
  • the closure attachment 2b sits tightly on the outlet pipe 5.
  • the actuating attachment 1d again largely corresponds, except for the missing baffle 9, to the actuating attachment 1 according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
  • the closure attachment 2c inserted tightly into the outlet pipe 5 contains an annular groove 25a surrounding the outlet nozzle 7c. which is aligned with outlet holes 24 in a membrane of the hood-like or cup-shaped closure element 3e made of resilient material, which frictionally engages with a radially inner circumferential wall in the annular groove 25a and with a radially outer circumferential wall in an annular groove 29 in the end face of the pipe socket 7c surrounding outer wall 30 engages in frictional engagement.
  • the membrane of the closure element 3e lies in the closed position on the edge 23a of the outlet opening of the outlet channel 6 and blocks the passage to the through holes 24 lying radially outside the edge 23a.
  • the mode of operation of this spray head in principle corresponds to the mode of operation of the spray heads according to FIGS. 3 and 4th
  • polygonal, e.g. quadrangular, closure elements and correspondingly adapted actuating attachments with the same design, as shown, can be provided.
