Un aspect essentiel d'un procédé de concassage de matières dures qui permet de réduire de manière significative les coûts d'investissement et d'exploitation par tonne produite est la mâchoire mobile à double action (3) du concasseur, reliée à un levier oscillant (1) qui reçoit le cylindre de compression hydraulique (2) ou l'agencement connu de levier à genouillère générateur de la pression d'écrasement et le moteur déséquilibré (5) générateur de la pression de clivage. Un autre aspect significatif de l'invention est l'agencement d'ouvertures (7) en forme de fentes dans la mâchoire fixe (6) du concasseur, orientée à 40° environ, qui servent à cribler les matières concassées.
