Description

The present invention relates to an automated scraping unit and, more particularly to such a unit used for cleaning pipes for petroleum products (US-A-3,291,217).

When an oil field is put into production, one or more satellite platforms ensuring the extraction and the first treatment of the crude are connected by conduits to a main platform which ensures the secondary treatment of the crude and its evacuation.

By circulating between the platforms, the crude oil or gas leaves a deposit on the internal wall of the duct. This deposit, consisting, for example, of paraffin, reduces the internal diameter of the conduit and hinders the passage of the crude. This deposit should therefore be removed regularly so that the internal diameter of the duct remains constant and the evacuated flow remains the same. This cleaning operation is called scraping.

To achieve this scraping, a scraper of diameter is introduced into the conduit such that, when it passes along the conduit, it scrapes the internal walls. In such an operation, the pressure of the crude oil serves as a driving force to move both the scraper and the scraping residues. The scraper is introduced via a scraper starting station located on the departure platform, a receiving station on the main platform allowing the scraper and the residues to be recovered.

Until now, these operations have been carried out by human operators who introduced the pigs into the departure station, operating valves allowing the station to be isolated and then pressurized to send the scraper into the duct. At the other end, other operators recovered the scrapers and evacuated the residues which were treated in a separator located downstream from the reception station.

In the context of research on uninhabited production platforms we sought to make them operational for a minimum of one year without any maintenance or intervention. As we plan to use two scrapers per week, a reserve of about a hundred scrapers must be provided.

The subject of the present invention is a scraping unit making it possible to load and recover scrapers automatically, which is of simple construction and of increased reliability.

To do this, the invention provides an automated scraping unit comprising the features of claim 1.

Le produit brut à évacuer passe du puits (non-représenté) à la plate-forme satellite 10 par un conduit 16.As shown in FIG. 1, an oil production installation comprises a satellite platform 10 which is connected to a main platform 12 by a conduit 14. The raw product to be removed passes from the well (not shown) to the platform - satellite form 10 via a conduit 16.

As will be described in more detail below, the automated scraper unit comprises a scraper launcher 18 mounted on the satellite platform 10 and a scraper receiver 10 mounted on the main platform 12. The scraper launcher 18 is provided with a magazine 22 intended to contain a reserve of scrapers. Similarly, the wiper receiver 20 includes a magazine 24 for receiving the wipers that have just been used and the residues. The treated raw product is sent back to the treatment installations via a pipe 26.

La bande de maintien 28 munie de racleurs 30 est stockée dans le magasin représenté schématiquement en 22.In Figures 2 and 3 is shown in more detail the scraper launcher 18. A retaining strip 28 contains a series of scrapers 30. Each scraper 30 has substantially a shell shape and is made, for example, of polyurethane foam covered with strips of hard polyurethane, arranged in a spiral (not shown). The retaining strip 28 provided with scrapers 30 is stored in the store shown schematically at 22.

The retaining strip 28 passes around a barrel 32 rotatably mounted about its longitudinal axis 34 and provided with several similar grooves 36, six in this case, each having a shape intended to receive a scraper 30. The retaining strip 28 once emptied of the scrapers 30 is recovered on a drum 38. The drum 38 and the barrel 32 are rotated together by belts 40 connected to a hydraulic motor 42 controlled by an indexing device (not shown). The scrapers disposed in the grooves 36 of the barrel 32 are held in position by a pressure belt 44 mounted around three rollers 46. One of the rollers 46 is equipped with an elastic device which ensures the permanent tension of the belt 44. The device indexing allows to present the scrapers 30 successively in the starting position.

The barrel is equipped with two position sensors (not shown). A first is intended to confirm that the barrel 32 is in place to present a scraper 30 in the axis of the scraper launcher, the second has the function of confirm that a scraper 30 is ready to be sent to the launcher.

The introduction of a scraper 30 into the launcher is effected by means of an introduction ram 48 or piston which is actuated by a hydraulic cylinder 50. At the end of the hydraulic cylinder 50 a nozzle makes it possible to extract the scraper 30 of the holding strip 28 and pushing it inside the launcher. This nozzle is provided with a skirt 52 which avoids any catching with the retaining strip during the folding of the hydraulic cylinder 50. The hydraulic cylinder 50 is provided with two limit switches (not shown) indicating that this cylinder is located in its maximum retracted and extended positions respectively.

The scraper launcher 18 is of a type known per se and is intended to automatically carry out the various maneuvers necessary for the dispatch of a scraper and for resting the system where the launcher is isolated from the source of crude . By way of example, the launcher 18 may be of the type intended for the shipment of instrumented scrapers of the LINALOG-AMF Tuboscope type. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 4, the pig launcher 18 is provided with three valves 54, 56 and 58 which make it possible to control the flow of the crude oil when launching a scraper. A fourth valve 60 which performs the door function of the launcher is equipped with a leakage control. Each of the valves 54 to 60 is motorized and is equipped with two limit switches indicating the open and closed positions of the valve.

As shown in FIG. 5, the scraper unit further comprises a scraper receiver 20 which is intended to automatically carry out the various maneuvers necessary for receiving a scraper. The scraper receiver 20 comprises a vertically mounted conduit, generally indicated by 62, which communicates with a tank 64 for storing scraping residues. The tank 64 includes an internal decantation system corresponding to a filling level of, for example, 50%. Grids extend the settling barrage to prevent the scrapers from spilling downstream of the settling tank.

The wiper receiver has a special outlet for collecting special wipers, for example instrumented wipers.

The evacuation of excess liquid to the drainage circuits is carried out by opening an automatic drainage valve 66 controlled by a level switch.

The tank 64 receives the pigs, the residues and the crude oil vertically after opening the valve 68. This reception operation can be followed by a flushing operation of the pig receiver.

At the end of each year, the reservoir 64 will be evacuated to the ground where the emptying and cleaning thereof is carried out. Therefore, the tank includes the openings necessary for manual cleaning and exhaustion of residual liquids, as well as the handling outlets.
