Abstract

Figure imgaf001
In the case of a gas purging plug made of refractory ceramic material, the visual recognition of the state of wear is improved. The recognizability should be independent of the material of the gas purging plug. For this purpose, a gas-permeable spacing space 3 extends in the gas purging plug, which has a different geometric shape in the direction of wear. As a result, when the gas flows through the space 3 on the surface of the gas purging plug, a pattern which is different in accordance with the state of wear is visible.

Description

The invention relates to a gas purging plug made of refractory ceramic material, on which the state of wear is visually recognizable and in which an inner body is inserted into an outer body.

Such a gas purging plug is described in DE-PS 31 42 989. The two bodies have different gas permeability there. The difference in emissivity between the two bodies is greater than 0.1. The brightness pattern of the hot gas purging plug is recorded to determine wear. The evaluation of the different light emissions is complex. In addition, the choice of materials is limited by the requirement for certain emissivities.

The object of the invention is to propose a gas purging plug of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the recognizability of the state of wear is improved and is largely independent of the material of the gas purging plug.

According to the invention, the above object is achieved in the case of a gas purging plug of the type mentioned at the outset in that a gas-permeable spacing space extends in the gas purging plug, in that the spacing space has different geometric shapes in the direction of wear, so that when the flow of gas flows through the spacing space on the surface of the gas purging plug, different spacings correspond to the respective state of wear geometric patterns are visible.

The spacing space has a different cross-sectional shape in parallel sectional planes of the gas flushing plug. If gas, for example natural gas, is passed through the spacing space, the shape of the spacing space there becomes visible on the surface of the gas purging plug. Knowing the position of the respective shape, wear can be concluded. Just looking at the shape of the gas outlet shows the respective wear. The shapes can easily be designed so differently that they can be distinguished without any doubt. The recognizability of the state of wear does not require any special material selection for the gas purging plug, so that the invention can be used in a wide variety of gas purging plug assemblies.

It is also favorable that the state of wear cannot be recognized only when the gas purging plug has already been largely worn out. The state of wear can also be seen when the gas purging plug can be used without further ado.

It is also favorable that the space can be designed so that the same gas flow rate flows through it in every state of wear.

Advantageous refinements of the invention result from the subclaims and the following description of exemplary embodiments. The drawing shows:
  • 1 shows an outer body of a gas purging plug in section,
  • FIG. 2 shows a view along the line II-II according to FIG. 1,
  • FIG. 3 shows a gas purging plug in perspective,
  • FIG. 4 shows the pattern which becomes apparent in the course of wear in the gas purging plug according to FIG. 3,
  • Figure 5 shows a third embodiment of a gas purging plug, and
  • Figure 6 shows a fourth embodiment of a gas purging plug.

The gas purging plug according to FIG. 1 has an outer body 1 with a conical outer surface 2. A space 3 is formed inside the body 1. This points sections of different shapes at different heights. The top section 4 is circular cylindrical. The section 5 adjoining this is square-conical. The bottom section 6 is circular cylindrical. There is a transition section 7 between section 6 and section 5.

The spacing space 3 is filled with a gas-permeable material.

If natural gas is passed through the space 3, a circular flame pattern is formed on the surface 8. This occurs in the gas passage as long as the wear has not progressed beyond section 4. If the wear has progressed to the area of section 5, a square flame pattern is created. This is an indication of largely advanced wear. In the event of further wear reaching into the lower section 6, a circular flame pattern occurs again, the diameter of which, however, is considerably larger than the diameter of the section 4.

It is also possible to insert an inner body into the interior of the outer body 1. The spacing space 3 is then formed by a gap or a joint between the outer body 1 and the inner body. A corresponding ring-shaped flame pattern results when the gas is passed through.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 3, an inner body 9 is inserted into the outer body 1. Between the inner body 9 and the outer body 1, the space 3 is in the form of a gas-permeable joint. The distance between the outer body 1 and the inner body 9 is the same in all areas.

The inner body 9 is frustoconical in its upper section 4. Its lower section 6 is cuboid. A corresponding transition section 7 lies between these sections 4, 6. The spacing space 3 or the outer body 1 has a corresponding shape as a hollow shape.

Figur 4a).When gas flows through and bodies 1, 9 that have not yet worn out, a gas curtain emerges on the surface 8, and thus a flame pattern appears which, when viewed from above, appears circular (see FIG. 4a).

Figur 4c).In the case of wear that has progressed up to height b, a flame pattern corresponding to FIG. 4b occurs in a square basic shape with rounded corners. In the case of wear that has progressed up to the height c, a square-sided flame pattern with pointed corners occurs (see FIG. 4c).

In the gas purging plug according to FIG. 5, a sheet metal jacket 10 forms the outer body 1. The inner jacket sits in the sheet metal jacket 10 Body 9, an upper part 11 of the sink and a lower part 12 of the sink. The space 3 consists between the sheet metal jacket 10 and the upper part 11 of the sink and between the upper part 11 of the sink and the lower part 12 of the sink. Between the plate 10 and the upper part 11 of the sink, the space 3 is formed by joints 13. Highly permeable material, for example with a permeability greater than 50 nPm, is inserted between the top part 11 of the sink and the bottom part 12 of the sink. In contrast, the top part 11 and the bottom part 12 are tight or weakly permeable.

The sheet metal jacket 10 is shrunk onto the sink base 12 or tightly connected to it by means of a cement joint 14.

If purging gas is passed through the hot gas purging plug 15 through a gas connection 15, then a circular ring which is darker than the light red surface 8 of the purging plug upper part 11 becomes visible due to the cooling effect of the purging gas in the area of the purging joint 13. If the top part 11 of the sink is worn down to the height b, then a dark, circular spot becomes visible. This is a sign that the gas purging plug must be replaced.

The embodiment of Figure 6 is similar to that of Figure 5. Here, an insert 16 with capillaries is inserted into the bottom part 12 of the sink. Gas channels 17 run radially outwards between the top part 11 of the sink and the bottom part 12 of the sink. Accordingly, a dark star is visible when worn up to the height b.
