Abstract

Un procédé sert à couler en continu des brames ayant une largeur considérablement supérieur à leur épaisseur, en particulier des brames d'acier de moins de 80 mm d'épaisseur. La masse fondue est versée d'un récipient de coulée (1) dans une lingotière (3) ayant du côté d'introduction de la coulée une section centrale plus grande au milieu que le format voulu de la coulée et correspondant à celui-ci dans ses zones marginales. Afin d'obtenir un procédé et un dispositif qui permettent de produire des brames en acier sans défauts de moins de 80 mm d'épaisseur et avec une finition de surface de haute qualité, la forme de la section transversale du côté d'introduction de la coulée dans la lingotière est maintenue sur toute la longueur de celle-ci et la croûte solidifiée de la zone centrale de la coulée (7) qui sort de la lingotière est déformée par des éléments de support et de guidage (8) agencés immédiatement après la lingotière, de sorte qu'après avoir traversé la section de déformation, la croûte solidifiée se situe sur le plan des bords (11) de la surface de la brame.
