Abstract

The process for purifying polluted water consists in introducing into a filter (7) a specific quantity of water to be purified, in filtering this water in order to obtain partially purified water, in accumulating partially purified water in a restricted space (9a) in order to collect a volume of water therein (12), to heat (10) the partially purified water to a temperature close to its boiling point, to reintroduce the partially purified water in the same filter, and continuously repeating the steps of filtering, accumulating and heating partially purified water, accompanied by additional purification of the partially purified water until the level of pollution of this water has fallen below a chosen level. A predetermined part of the volume of purified water can be distilled (43) after completion of the purification, and the distilled water is collected (46) in a tank (45) for later consumption. A device for implementing the described method comprises a container (9) provided with a filter (7) arranged in its upper part (20) delimiting a storage chamber in its lower part (9a), and a cover (3 ) which is removably supported by the container. An electric heating resistor (10) is disposed either in the storage chamber (Fig. 1) or outside the container (Fig. 2), and a rising pipe (16), which may include in its lower part a pocket to collect the steam, go up from the heating resistance to the filter. The container can be installed in a vapor condensation enclosure (45) to produce distilled water (46) and be placed in communication with this enclosure.
