Abstract

A stringing system for a racket consisting of two elements, a prewoven net of individual strings and a two piece fixing device, acting as a string clamp in the string hole of a racket frame under the string's own tension. A first member of the fixing device is tubular in shape and is designed to extend through the interior of the racket frame hole. Its upper portion extends outward from the frame hole and has a slot which separates it into two half shells. A second member of the fixing device is placed over the frame hole and is located entirely exteriorly of the hole. The exterior surface of the second member is adapted to the profile of the racket frame. During stringing of the racket, the first member is placed inside the second member and into the frame hole. The string is passed through the hole in the first member, such that when the first member slides into the second member, its two half shells are pressed together around the string to hold the string in place when under tension.

Description

The invention relates to a racket provided with a device for fixing strings, for example a tennis racket, comprising a support piece placed against the outside of the frame and a piece crimping the rope by sliding inside of the conical hole of the support piece.

The fixing devices known up to now, operating so as to crimp the rope to fix it in place, require the manufacture of a racket frame specially designed or transformed to receive this kind of fixation.

2).The most frequent transformations are the enlargement of the openings, in order to be able to place the fasteners inside them. At Buteleux, in patent CH-A-356702, the conical sockets penetrate inside the hole of the frame, and the strings are tightened inside the conical sockets. To be able to place these conical sockets inside the openings of the racket frame (page 2, line 10) it is necessary to transform the openings of the frame, by enlarging them and to give a conical shape to the sockets (fig. 2) .

The system used by Vaughn and Parker, - see patent application GB-A-2058902, according to fig. 5, 7a, 8b the tightening of the rope takes place in openings specially designed for this purpose, inside the racket.

The disadvantage of all these systems is that the conical pin-shaped parts and the clamping sleeves are placed inside the openings, enlarged to be able to accommodate the entire system in the frame. Therefore, their use is limited to a racket specifically manufactured or transformed for this purpose.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks. The invention is characterized in that the support piece, track Fig. 3 no. 10, does not penetrate inside the passage of the cords but is placed in abutment on the outside, on the frame.

The tightening is carried out by the part 9 outside the holes. The advantage obtained thanks to this invention consists essentially in that the fixing device can be mounted on all the frames without carrying out transformations, by enlarging the openings.

The invention is set out below in more detail using Figures 1, 2 and 3 showing only one embodiment. To fix a rope in place, the fixing device is placed on the outside of the frame and the individual rope threaded into the hole of the fixing device. The rope is stretched to the desired tension and fixed at its end by the fixing device.

The device comprises the first part (9), the upper part (11) of which is formed by two frustoconical half-shells separated by the slot (15) which surrounds the rope (7) when tightening. The part (9) slides in the second part (10) whose external profile is adapted to the shape of the frame (4). The hole (13) is conical. When stringing, the part (9) is placed in the part (10). The rope is slid from the inside to the outside of the frame, then stretched while keeping the fixing device in contact with the frame. As soon as the part (9) is pushed into the clamping position, the tension is released. The part (9) functions like a jaw. The two half-shells are forced against the rope by the effect of the part (9) wedged against the part (10). A small tube of elastic material (14) can be placed at the bottom of the part (9), between the latter and the hole in the frame. This tube keeps the fixing system in place, opposite the hole, which can be advantageous when a racket is equipped with this system in the factory and must be shipped without the fixing system being lost.
