Die Druckmittelzylinder 29 stehen ebenfalls mit der Antriebs- und Steuereinrichtung 16 in Verbindung. Claims (8)

1. Square-cutting device for square-cutting continuously conveyed side boards of logs by means of a square-cutting tool which travels along with the side board which is to be square- cut, the tool being a square-cutting blade (13) fitted with a cutter (12) on one leading edge, which is guided so that it can be driven in a blade-advancing device (9) which is guided in a mobile manner in the direction of the conveyor and onto which a counterpressure device (22) which acts in a direction (3) opposed to that of the conveyor grips, characterised by the fact that logs (1) which have already been flattened at the sides are conveyed to the square-cutting device, that the logs (1) are guided between side guiding and conveying rollers (2), and that the penetration depth of the cutter (12) is controlled by means of a feed-path measuring device (17) which is connected to a hydraulic drive and control device (16) of the blade-advancing device (9).
2. Square-cutting device according to Claim 1, characterised by the fact that the blade-advancing device is a hydraulic cylinder/piston unit (4), the cylinder (8) of which is supported so that it can be swivelled on a machine frame (6), and the piston rod (11) of which carries the square-cutting blade (13).

Square-cutting device according to Claims 1 or 2, characterised by the fact that at the feed side of the square-cutting device (5) there is a feeler device (19) which detects the beginning of the log and that a path-measuring device (20) which detects the conveyor path of the log is provided which are connected to a control system (16) which controls the drive of the blade-advancing device (9).
4. Square-cutting device according to Claim 3, characterised by the fact that the feeler device is an optical sensing device, preferably a photoelectric barrier (19).
5. Square-cutting device according to Claim 3, characterised by the fact that the path-measuring device (20) is connected to a guide roller or conveyor roller (2) for the log.
6. Square-cutting device according to Claim 1, characterised by the fact that on each side of the log there are two square-cutting blades (13) at a distance above each other.
7. Square-cutting device according to Claim 6, characterised by the fact that the distance between the two square-cutting blades (13) can be adjusted.
8. Use of a square-cutting device according to Claim 6 for square-cutting the trimming edges of the side boards (1a) of continuously conveyed logs (1) before the separation of the main product (1b).
