Definitions

  • Occlusive pessaries which are designed as one-piece or multi-part, rigid bodies. These are difficult to insert and remove and do not exclude the risk of injury to the mucous membrane or digging into the uterine wall.
  • IUDs intra uterine devices
  • arms which spring apart from one another have also been proposed, which arms were each provided with an end body, the curved outer surfaces of which served to reduce the risk of injury to the mucous membrane somewhat, and on the other hand, to form an ovoid in the collapsed position, but without these end bodies, of course, being intended and suitable for performing any sealing function.
  • the present invention has for its object to provide an occlusive pessary according to the preamble of claim 1, which avoids the disadvantages mentioned by the fact that the closure members are designed as full bodies and thus allow an even more secure termination of the fallopian tube mouth and in addition in a flexible manner at the free end of the branch in question are attached.
  • This flexibility of the connection between a branch and the relevant end organ allows these pressing bodies to be brought into the correct position even if the branches cannot be more precisely positioned simply by spreading the branches.
  • the inventive design according to the characterizing part of claim 1 allows a safe termination of the fallopian tube mouth, without preventing the outflow of the menstrual blood.
  • such an occlusive pessary can be produced in a comparatively simple way.
  • the pessary has a supporting beam 1, one of which, in the insertion direction, the rear end 2 is provided with an eyelet 3 for looping through a pull-out thread, while at its other, front end 4 in the insertion direction, two branches made of the same material 5 and 6 are arranged.
  • the supporting beam 1 can, as shown in Fig. 1, be wrapped with a copper thread 7, the contraceptive effect of which is generally known.
  • the material of the support beam 1 and the branches 5 and 6 is a stiff but largely elastic plastic, so that when, for example, the pessary is inserted into a tube 8, as shown in FIG.
  • the two branches 5 and 6 are encased in an extremely soft, elastic material, for example silicone rubber (for example the product sold under the protected name “SILASTIC 382” by Dow Corning), which encasement 13 is a continuation of the free ends of the arms the increase in flexibility arranged, at the free ends of the branches 5 and 6 adjoining connecting pieces 9 and 10 of smaller diameter passes, on which then finally the substantially spherical and made of the relevant soft material end members 11 and 12 are arranged.
  • silicone rubber for example the product sold under the protected name “SILASTIC 382” by Dow Corning
  • the occlusive pessary shown is inserted from a position, as shown in FIG. 3, into the uterus by means of the tube 8, a rod (not shown) being used to push the pessary in or out of the tube 8 within the tube 8 .
  • a rod (not shown) being used to push the pessary in or out of the tube 8 within the tube 8 .
  • the branches 5 and 6 spread thanks to the stiffness of their material into the position shown in FIG. 1, in which the closing organs 11 and 12 are gentle and soft in the area of the fallopian tubes against the endometrium queue and seal off these fallopian tubes. Thanks to the softness of the material of the end organs 11 and 12 and the connecting pieces 9, 10, these end organs 11 and 12 can be adapted to the particular circumstances of the uterus, and that over the stiff end of each branch 5 and 5 respectively. 6 protruding and consisting of a connecting piece 9 or 10 and a closure member 11 or 12 is able to accomplish the desired closure, if necessary even under its own deformation.
  • the removal of the pessary is carried out as usual by a thread passed through the eyelet 3, by bringing the support beam 1 and the branches 5 and 6, which can be folded under elastic deformation, into the position shown in FIG can be pulled out through the cervix.
  • the occlusive pessary described allows, in the most gentle way, i.e. avoiding any irritation of the uterine lining and allowing free drainage of the menstrual blood to ensure a safe closure of the fallopian tubes, which can be inserted as painlessly as it can be removed.
  • the production poses no further problems, so that the pessary in question can be distributed widely.
