Abstract

A method and apparatus for atomizing slurry-type fuels includes introducing a slurry-type fuel under pressure into a mixing chamber and introducing an atomizing fluid under pressure into the mixing chamber in a tangential direction along the periphery of the mixing chamber and the atomizer fuel exiting from the mixing chamber through an orifice. The degree of atomization of the slurry-type fuel may be adjusted by varying the pressure differential between the slurry-type fuel and the atomizing fluid entering the mixing chamber.
