Abstract

The invention provides a system for automatically balancing the jib of cranes of the type with articulated arms or telescopic arms depending on the variation of the reach of this jib. The annular section chambers of the hydraulic cylinder controlling the auxiliary arm of the crane and of the hydraulic cylinder controlling the pivoting arm carrying the counterweight are connected in series by a duct. The full section chambers of the hydraulic cylinders are connected selectively, by actuation of a valve, either to the pressure line or to the return line. In the right-hand position of the valve, the counterweight is pivoted and the arm is raised simultaneously, whereas in the opposite position of the valve the arm is lowered and the counterweight is raised.

Description

The invention relates to devices of the type of jib cranes with articulated or telescopic arms allowing the lifting or handling of loads with the grapple, the hook winch or the hook. It relates more particularly to a device ensuring the automatic balancing of the boom of such cranes as a function of the variation in the range of this boom.

In known devices of this kind, the crane boom is generally articulated on the turret, without balancing, the counterweight being itself fixed on the turret. In this case, the counterweight in fact only serves to reduce the overturning moment but by a fixed value and without compensation depending on the range of the boom. In addition, the lifting cylinders of the main arm or the auxiliary arm must ensure both the lifting of the load, the boom and the load gripper.

The object of the invention is to avoid the above-mentioned drawbacks of known devices and, for this purpose, it proposes to equip the crane jib with a device ensuring automatically the balancing of this jib as a function of the variation. of its reach.

La flèche de grue selon l'invention est exposée dans la revendication 1.In document EP-A-0 033 060, it has already been proposed, in order to ensure such automatic balancing, to connect the counterweight, by a connecting rod, to the auxiliary arm of the boom. However, such a mechanical connection is not entirely satisfactory taking into account the usual working conditions of cranes. The crane boom according to the invention is set out in claim 1.

The value of the counterweight being calculated as a function of the dead weight of the elements of the boom (including the gripping means such as grapple or muffle which it supports) and according to the lever arms, the synchronized movements of the auxiliary arm and the counterweight (by supplying the control cylinder of one of them by means of the hydraulic fluid discharged from the control cylinder of the other) thus make it possible to obtain a choice of total or partial balancing of the boom.

The device according to the invention also makes it possible to considerably reduce the powers of the motor and receiver organs necessary for the movements of the load, and therefore to reduce energy consumption.

A hydraulic distributor, in a first position, ensures the supply of hydraulic fluid to the chamber of the counterweight control cylinder which is not connected to the control cylinder of the auxiliary arm while the chamber of the control cylinder of the auxiliary arm which is not connected to the counterweight control cylinder is in communication with a fluid reservoir, the other chamber of the counterweight control cylinder transferring the hydraulic fluid to the other chamber of the auxiliary arm control cylinder. This distributor, in a second position, supplies fluid to the chamber of the control cylinder of the auxiliary arm which is not connected to the control cylinder of the counterweight and puts in communication with the fluid tank the chamber of the control cylinder of the counterweight not connected to the control cylinder of the auxiliary arm, while the chamber of the control cylinder of the auxiliary arm which is connected to the chamber of the control cylinder of the counterweight transmits the hydraulic fluid to this chamber.

It will be noted that the balancing device according to the invention can be applied to arrows with articulated arms as well as to arrows with telescopic arms.

To clearly understand the device according to the invention, two preferred embodiments will be described below, by way of non-limiting examples, with reference to the appended schematic drawing in which:
  • Figure 1 is a side view of a crane boom with articulated arms, equipped with the automatic balancing device according to the invention; and
  • Figure 2 is a similar view for a crane boom with telescopic arms.

L'extrémité arrière coudée du bras auxiliaire 7 est solidaire de l'extrémité libre de la tige 9 d'un vérin hydraulique 10 dont le corps est articulé sur une chape 11 solidaire du bras principal 3.Referring to Figure 1, there is shown in 1 the crane base, in 2 the pivoting turret overhanging this base and in 3 the main boom arm hinged towards its rear end to the turret 2, around an axis horizontal 4, in order to be able to pivot in a vertical plane under the control of a hydraulic cylinder 5. At the front end of the main arm 3 is articulated, around a horizontal axis 6, an auxiliary arm 7 whose front end carries a gripping means constituted, in the example shown, by a grapple 8. The angled rear end of the auxiliary arm 7 is integral with the free end of the rod 9 of a hydraulic cylinder 10 whose body is articulated on a yoke 11 secured to the main arm 3.

At the rear end of the main arm 3 is articulated about a horizontal axis 12, a balance 13 secured to a counterweight 14. The balance 13 is articulated at one end of the rod 15 of a hydraulic cylinder 16, the body is pivotally attached to a yoke 17 carried by the main arm 3.

  • -une position correspondant à la partie de gauche (en regardant la figure) du distributeur, dans laquelle le conduit 23 menant à la chambre 24 du vérin 10 est relié à la pompe 19 et le conduit 25 menant à la chambre 26 du vérin 16 est relié au réservoir 18;
The hydraulic supply system of the jacks 10 and 16 will now be described. For this purpose, there is shown at 18 a reservoir of hydraulic fluid, at 19 a pump connected to this reservoir and at 20 a hydraulic distributor with three positions. At this distributor 20 lead on the one hand a pressure conduit 21 connected to the pump 19 and a return conduit 22 connected to the reservoir 18 and, on the other hand, a conduit 23 connected to the chamber 24 with full section of the jack 16 A conduit 27 connects in series the annular section chambers 28 and 29 respectively of the jacks 10 and 16. The distributor 20 can take three different positions, that is to say:
  • a central position (shown in the drawing) in which the conduits 23 and 25, leading respectively to the jacks 10 and 16, are isolated from the fluid supply and from the reservoir:
  • -a position corresponding to the left part (looking at the figure) of the dispenser, wherein the conduit 23 leading to the chamber 24 of the cylinder 10 is connected to the pump 19 and the conduit 25 leading to the chamber 26 of the cylinder 16 is connected to the reservoir 18;
  • -a position corresponding to the right part of the distributor (looking at the figure) in which, conversely, the chamber 24 of the cylinder 10 is connected to the reservoir 18 and the chamber 26 of the cylinder 16 is connected to the pump food 19.

The operation of the device will now be explained. Assuming that he wishes to extend the reach of the boom, the operator then places the distributor 20 in the position corresponding to its right-hand part, looking at FIG. 1, so that the chamber 26 of the jack 16 is is supplied with pressurized fluid and, by displacement of the rod 15, simultaneously produces a tilting of the counterweight 14 and, due to the connection between the chambers 29 and 28 of the jacks 16 and 10, a lifting of the auxiliary arm 7. As the value of the counterweight 14 is calculated as a function of the dead weight of the elements of the boom and of the grapple 8, and as a function of the lever arms, the boom is therefore permanently balanced (in whole or in part), on the assembly formed by the base 1 and the turret 2. When the desired lengthening position of the boom is reached, the distributor 20 is brought back to its intermediate position and the operations of lifting and lowering the load are then carried out by the jack 5.

If, conversely, the operator decides to reduce the reach of the boom, he will then have to place the distributor 20 in the position corresponding to its left part, looking at FIG. 1. The chamber 24 of the jack 10 is then supplied, which produces the tilting of the auxiliary arm 7 and simultaneously, by the connection of the chamber 28 of this jack with the chamber 29 of the jack 16, which ensures the lifting of the counterweight 14 to ensure the automatic balancing.

The embodiment of Figure 2 differs mainly from that of Figure 1 only in that the auxiliary arm 7 is mounted to slide telescopically inside the main arm 3, under the action of the hydraulic cylinder 10 '. The grapple 8 in FIG. 1 has also been replaced by a system with winch 30 and block 31. The hydraulic control device is practically the same as that in FIG. 1, except that the conduit 23 ′ connects the distributor. 20 to the annular section chamber 28 'of the jack 10', while the conduit 27 'connects in series the full section chamber 24' of the jack 10 'and the annular section chamber 29' of the jack 16 '. Similarly, to increase the reach of the boom, the user will place the distributor 20 in its position corresponding to its right-hand part, looking at FIG. 2, which will simultaneously cause the counterweight 14 to tip over and the telescopic auxiliary arm 7 to come out. ensuring automatic balancing. Conversely, to reduce the reach of the boom, the user will place the distributor 20 in its position corresponding to its left-hand part, looking at FIG. 2, simultaneously ensuring the retraction of the auxiliary arm 7 and the lifting of the counterweight 14.

It will be understood that the above description has been given only by way of example, without limitation, and that additions or constructive modifications could be made thereto without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims which follow.
