Description

The invention relates to a water heater for dishwashers, washing machines or other electrically operated domestic appliances with hot water preparation.

From DE-OS 24 40 42b an electric instantaneous water heater has become known in which the flow tube concentrically surrounds the tubular heating element or the tubular heating element.

From US-PS 31 30 737 a dishwasher has become known in which an electrical heating resistor is also arranged in the air flow.

The known flow heaters have the disadvantage that constituents contained in the water flow, for example food residues, washing powder, etc., settle on the heated tubular heater and burn in there. This leads to taste and smell nuisance, especially in dishwashers, apart from hygienic concerns. If, for example, a dishwasher of the type in question is not operated for a few weeks, then the settled food remnants start to form mold. In addition, such deposits on the tubular heating element cause this to overheat locally, since the heat dissipation is impaired.

Accordingly, as is shown, for example, by DE-OS 33 07 9 b 2 or US Pat. No. 4,326,552, electric instantaneous water heaters for beverage makers or for dishwashers have been developed in which a tubular heating element is wound helically around a tube through which the liquid flow is directed. These water heaters improve the problem, but they have not yet been completely solved. Due to the direct heat transfer from the tubular heating element to the inner jacket surface of the tube, zones with a higher temperature and solcehe with a lower temperature are formed, with the corresponding deposits occurring in the zones with higher temperatures.

The invention is based on the object of designing a continuous-flow heater of the type in question in such a way that the heat transfer from the tubular heating element to the inner jacket of the flow tube is improved in the sense of a more uniform heat distribution on the inner jacket of the tube, so that deposits are avoided.

The solution to the problem arises from the characterizing features of the main claim. The subclaims relate to preferred embodiments.

  • Fig. 1 einen Schnitt durch den unteren Teil einer Geschirrspülmaschine;
In the drawing, a preferred embodiment of the object of the invention is shown. Show it:
  • 1 shows a section through the lower part of a dishwasher.
  • Fig. 2 in an enlarged scale, a partially sectioned view of the water heater.

On a stainless steel pipe 1, e.g. made of chromium-nickel steel, a good heat-conducting metal pipe 2, which consists in particular of copper or aluminum and which carries a soldered tubular heating element 3, is pushed on. The arrangement is then thorned or expanded from the inside out. Instead of flaring, the steel tube 1 can also be soldered together with the rivet tube 2 in a single operation, with a good heat-conducting connection.

As a further alternative, the rustproof tube can be cast in die-cast metal tube 2 carrying the tubular heating element 3.

As is known, stainless steel pipes have many advantages for the purposes in Reae, but the considerable disadvantage of e.g. Thermal conductivity is significantly poorer than that of copper or aluminum. The arrangement of the metal tube 2 made of a material that is a good conductor of heat achieves a uniform heat distribution and in this way prevents food residues or dirt from caking on the inner jacket of the steel tube 1. It is particularly important, however, that stress corrosion cracking is prevented by the uniform heat distribution.

With a correct design of the surface load, whereby a critical value which depends on the degree of pollution of the water must not be exceeded, no coating at all on the inner jacket of the tube 1 made of stainless steel. This shows that a problem previously considered inevitable in dishwashers can be solved by the newly proposed arrangement. The instantaneous water heater is suitable of course also for what chma machines and for the hot water preparation, in the latter case there is the advantage of a much lower lime deposit on the inner jacket of the tube 1 made of stainless steel.
