Abstract

The train advance unit has an auxiliary bogie (14) that can be lifted, lowered and displaced transversely, and a hydraulic cylinder (15) works the lifting and lowering. A device (36) blocks the bogie when it reaches the transverse position. There are two sections of rail (37,42) to be removed during any work period, respectively below the auxiliary bogie and below the vehicle (1) axle (5), these rail sections traverse the bogie and axle, and there are separate devices (40,41,45,46) to displace each of the sections longitudinally forward.

Description

The present invention relates to a railway train for the renewal of railway tracks, comprising an operational assembly provided with means for removing the old rails, and means for allowing at least one of the axles to advance on the already deprived track of the rails.

Several types of rail vehicles or trains are known that can be moved (by their own means or harnessed behind other trains) on the railways, in order to transfer them from a depot to a work area and, after arriving at the latter, to carry out by mechanical means the operations of removing the rails to be replaced, removing the old sleepers, leveling or moving the ballast, laying new sleepers and finally laying new rails instead of the previous ones . The support and guidance of such an assembly can be entrusted to the pre-existing track only in the front part of the train set, because, from the point where the rails have been removed, the support and guidance of the track are running out. It is therefore necessary to provide suitable support devices, different from a simple axle or bogie, which are usually formed by tracked supports resting on the ballast, and are not satisfactory. More advanced devices have also been proposed, comprising a roller or track shoe which is placed below the axle of the vehicle and which slides on the aged sleepers still laid, but even in this case we encounter difficulties due the fact that the movement of the shoe takes place under the load of the entire weight acting on the axle.

The aim of the present invention is to improve the known railway trainsets intended for the function described, by providing for them a device for supporting and guiding the advance which allows the trainset to proceed on the railway track already deprived of the rails, by following the correct route, and which is free from the drawbacks of known devices, or which presents them in a more reduced measure.

  • - un bogie auxiliaire qui peut être soulevé et abaissé et susceptible aussi d'un déplacement transversal;
  • - des moyens pour bloquer ledit bogie auxiliaire dans la position transversale atteinte;
The train set according to the present invention, comprising an operating assembly provided with means for removing the old rails, and means for allowing at least one of the axles to advance on the railway track already deprived of the rails, is mainly characterized by that said means allowing an axle to advance on the already deprived track of rails include:
  • - an auxiliary bogie which can be raised and lowered and also capable of transverse displacement;
  • - means for controlling the raising and lowering of said auxiliary bogie:
  • - Means for locking said auxiliary bogie in the transverse position reached;
  • - first and second sections of rail capable of being arranged, during the periods of work on the sleepers, respectively below the auxiliary bogie and below the axle in question, to be traversed by them, and first and second means for moving longitudinally forward by alternating cycles said first and second rail sections.

Thanks to these characteristics, the operational assembly of the railway train according to the invention (which can be preceded, as usual, by storage wagons which transport the new materials to be laid and which are intended to receive the old materials removed , and followed by other vehicles carrying operational means), advances, by one or more axles which precede the axle in question, on the track to be renewed, previously freed from the fasteners, removes the old rails and advances by the axle considered on old sleepers still laid, with the interposition of sections of rails which bear on the sleepers, or else on the rail supports when these are present on the sleepers, and are guided by them, so that the whole results correctly supported and faithfully follows the pre-existing layout. The advancement of each section of rail is carried out when no load is applied to the corresponding axle, respectively on the auxiliary bogie, and consequently there is no danger of difficulties in advancing the sections of rail, nor of displacement of the sleepers.

Preferably, in addition, said means allowing at least one of the axles to advance on the already deprived track of the rails also comprise detector means arranged to detect the approach of said auxiliary bogie and said axle at the anterior ends and, respectively, posterior to the travel used on said sections of rail, and means for coordinating the operation of parts of the train, controlled by said detector means and arranged to cause, alternately for said axle and for said auxiliary bogie, the transfer of the load on the other of them and the advancement of its own sections of rail, as well as to cause the blocking of the transverse displacement of the auxiliary bogie only during the periods when it is subjected to the load.

Thanks to these subsequent characteristics, the operation of the means for supporting and guiding the advancement of the railway train results in fully automatic operation and does not involve the action or the control of the operators.

These and other particularities and advantages of the subject of the invention will emerge more clearly from the following description of an embodiment given by way of nonlimiting example and represented diagrammatically in the appended drawing, in which:

This latter assembly, which is raised for approaching on the track when axle 6 is active, is lowered (to the position shown) for the work and allows the second vehicle 2 to proceed by relying on the new sleepers laid, still devoid of the rails (or, according to a possible alternative, laterally to said sleepers).

Les opérations ultérieures (pose des nouveaux rails, compactage de ballast, etc.) sont effectuées par des moyens opératifs successifs (non représentés).The operating assembly described acts by proceeding in continuous movement to the left according to FIG. 1, by rolling by means of the axle 4 on the old unbolted rails, by lifting and removing the old rails by means 12 - 13 while the old sleepers remain placed on the ballast, rolling on these old sleepers (as described below) by means of the axle 5 and the auxiliary bogie 14, removing by means of the removal device 21 the old sleepers that the conveyors 16 and 7 send to depot 8, leveling cu by moving the ballast by means of the ploughshare 22 and associated operating means, and by placing, by means 23 or 24, new sleepers on which the assembly advances by means of the tracked support 25. Subsequent operations (laying new rails, compacting ballast, etc.) are carried out by successive operating means (not shown).

D'une manière analogue, pendant les périodes ne travail, des tronçons de rail 42, pourvus de détecteurs de position 43 et 44, sont posés sur les vieilles traverses au-dessous de l'essieu 5 et, au moyen d'un système de leviers 45, peuvent être déplacés longitudinalement par un cylindre hydraulique 46.Referring to Figure 2, the device allowing the second axle 5 of the vehicle 1 to advance on the old sleepers, which in the location of said axle are already deprived of the old rails removed by the means 12 - 13, comprises an auxiliary bogie lifting and lowering by means of a hydraulic cylinder 15. In the raised position, the bogie 14 does not touch the rails and does not interfere with the running of the railway train, while in the lowered position it can unload from the axle 5 the weight of the chassis 1, absorbed by the bogie 14 via the cylinder 15 subjected to pressure, or else simply bear without load on the rails, when the cylinder 15 is not under pressure. The raising and lowering of the bogie 14 is guided by an appropriate kinematism, for example a parallelogram 35; in addition, the bogie 14 is able to perform a transverse movement which, moreover, can be blocked by a hydraulic cylinder 36. During the working periods, on the old sleepers, below the bogie 14, are placed short sections of rail 37 which cooperate with the bogie 14 by means of a position detector 38 and which. by means of a system of levers 40, can be moved longitudinally by a hydraulic cylinder 41. In a similar manner, during periods of work, sections of rail 42, provided with position detectors 43 and 44, are placed on the old sleepers below the axle 5 and, by means of a system of levers 45, can be moved longitudinally by a hydraulic cylinder 46.

This device operates in the following manner. During the working progress of the railway train, the rail sections 37 and 42 are arranged, respectively, below the axle 5 and below the bogie 14 and bear on the rail-carrying plates of the sleepers located below, which guide them along the route of the track. In cases where the armament does not provide for the use of plates, the support of the rail sections 37 and 42 takes place directly on the upper part of the sleepers. In a first phase, the axle 5 (on which in this phase the weight of the chassis 1 is applied) advances on the rail sections 42, which remain stationary relative to the crosspieces situated below. The cylinder 15 is inactive and therefore the bogie 14 has no load, during this advancement phase, in which the load is applied to the axle 5, the cylinder 41 is active and it advances the sections of rail 37 with respect to the cross members located below and with respect to the bogie 14, which does not present any difficulties since the bogie 14 is not loaded. This advancement of the rail sections 37 relative to the bogie 14 continues until the activity of the cylinder 41 is interrupted by the position detector 44. This also activates the cylinder 15, which then transmits the weight of the chassis 1 to the bogie 14, and consequently unloads the axle 5, and also activates the cylinder 46. At this time begins a second phase, in which the bogie 14 (on which the weight of the chassis 1 now acts) advances on the sections of rail 37, which remain stationary relative to the sleepers located below. During this advancement phase, in which the bogie 14 is subjected to the load, the cylinder 46 which has been activated advances the rail sections 42 with respect to the crosspieces situated below and with respect to the axle 5, this which presents no difficulties because the axle 5 is not loaded. This advancement of the rail sections 42 relative to the axle 5, and the advancement phase of the vehicle resting on the bogie 14, continue until the position detectors 43 and 38 interrupt the activity of the cylinder. 46 deactivate the cylinder 15 and activate the cylinder 41; therefore the weight of the chassis 1 begins to load the axle 5. At this point, the operating cycle is completed, and the two phases described continue to repeat themselves in a cyclic manner, allowing continuous advancement of the vehicle. Advancement on the private rail sleepers therefore takes place in alternating cycles of displacement in front of the rail sections 37 and 42, while the weight of the advancing vehicle always acts on the stationary rail sections, and the rail sections which are moving forward are always those which are below a support means which in this phase is not loaded.

The cylinder 36 is connected so as to allow free the transverse movement of the bogie 14 while the weight of the vehicle acts on the axle 5, and to block this lateral movement when the weight of the vehicles is transferred to the bogie 14. In this way , the bogie 14 has the possibility of adapting its own transverse position, as a function of the local curvature of the track layout, during the whole period in which the transverse position of the vehicle is defined by the axle 5, and then maintains unchanged this transverse position during the period in which the bogie 14 supports the load. In order to leave as much as possible to the axle the function of controlling the transverse position of the vehicle, preferably the advance travel of the rail sections 42 is considerably greater than that of the rail sections 37, and the load is transferred to the bogie 14 only in the period strictly necessary for the movement of the rail sections 42. For example, the length of movement of the rail sections 42 can be 40 cm, and the length of movement of the rail sections 37 can be 20 cm.

The device according to the invention has been described in relation to the second axle 5 of a vehicle 1 with two axles 4 and 5, provided with means 12, 13 for removing the old rails arranged between the two axles, and followed by another vehicle 2 with a single axle 6. However, it should be understood that a similar device can also be advantageously used to support and guide the axle 6 of the second vehicle, instead of the tracked support 25. Furthermore, in cases where the means 12, 13 for removing the old rails are not arranged after the axle 4 of the vehicle 1, but on a wagon which precedes it in the railway train, a device like that which has been described can also be applied to support and guide the first axle 4 of the vehicle 1. In this case, the operation of the machine can be increased by reducing the internal tensions induced in the rails to negligible levels during the removal operation of these rails.

However, preferably, the rail sections 42 are prepared to be left in use, by fixing them to the plates or to the crosspieces situated below by the normal fixing members, and by connecting them, by means of the usual fishplates, one side to the old track which has not yet been renewed, and the other side to the new rails which have just been installed, thereby establishing 17 continuity necessary for the passage of the railway trains on the track. This operation substantially facilitates the suspension and resumption of activity on the railway renewal train on a track which must remain open to traffic.

The device described presents a considerably greater operating safety than that of known devices, even of those more advanced in which below the axle of the vehicle is arranged a roller or track shoe, which is intended to slide on the sleepers under the entire load to which the axle of the vehicle is subjected, and which can, therefore, encounter difficulties, resistances or impediments to advancement, or else it can displace the old sleepers, with the result of upsetting the track on which the skate must slide.

It should be understood that the railway train according to the invention can have all the characteristics described or even just a part of them, depending on the particular applications for which it is intended. Different modifications can be applied to the details described, and all parts and groups can be replaced by their technical equivalents.
