Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for forming joints of an industrial type paving, generally made of concrete.
- the first part or rule of said device is a bar having a profile in the shape of a clothespin.
- the rule comes in two forms depending on whether you want to make a putty joint or a so-called dry joint.
- the rule used has a profile formed by two legs joined by a vertex. The outer flank of the legs is straight and the width of the ruler decreases from its top to its base, so that it can be removed when the paving is finished.
- a slightly different rule is used. Its profile is always formed by two legs joined by their top, but the external sides of said legs have ears in dovetail and their lower ends have the shape of a bead.
- the assembly and support parts have a profile which comprises two oblique legs, the upper ends of which are joined by a summit surmounted in the middle by a ridge with vertical sides. Said vertex comprises on each side of the ridge a hollow, the opening of which is slightly narrowed.
- the oblique legs are connected by a horizontal ridge which prevents them from spreading.
- crossing guides which have the form of dihedrons whose edge is intended to be arranged vertically. They have the same height as the assembly and support parts.
- Ruler parts are cut to the desired dimensions.
- Support and assembly elements are placed under the ruler parts, the ruler legs overlapping the crest of the assembly parts, the beads of the lower ends of the legs locking by pressure in the recesses arranged on the top of the parts assembly.
- the distance between two neighboring joining pieces can be of the order of 50 cm.
- the rule parts are then placed with the assembly pieces on the surface to be paved by arranging the crossing guides so that the ends of the rule parts overlap the fins of said crossing guides. Then pour a first concrete to anchor the assembly parts. This operation is generally carried out the day before the paving is poured.
- the rule In use, we realized that these various parts made it possible to obtain the expected results, but that they could still be improved.
- the rule must withstand significant forces, for example when it supports the vibrating rule, without bending or twisting between the assembly parts.
- the spacing of the joining pieces can be reduced, but the areas in which the concrete can flow under the rule between two joining pieces are then reduced and the keying between the various panels of the paving is reduced.
- the manufacturing tolerances of the connecting pieces and of the rule are such that locking the beads of the lower ends of the legs of the rule in the hollows of the connecting pieces is not always simple. If the bead, at the bottom of one leg, is a little too wide, or the opening of a hollow a little too small, it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, to engage the bead in the hollow whose twist external is too short to be elastic. If the beads of the legs are not wide enough, or the openings of the hollows a little too wide, the assembly piece (s) hang badly under the ruler at the time of assembly, before pouring the layer of concrete in which the bases of assembly parts drown.
- An object of the present invention therefore consists in providing a rule which is sufficiently rigid to withstand the forces to which it is exposed without deforming and without requiring the multiplication of assembly parts.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a means of fixing the rule on the assembly parts which is practical and effective.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide assembly parts which can also be used for crossing points.
- the ruler has a profile, the lower part of which is in the form of a jumper, the legs of the jumper each having on their inner flank, at a certain distance from the top of the jumper, a boss, and the assembly parts include a ridge whose upper edge is horizontal, the bosses of the legs of the ruler forming a locking means between the ruler and the assembly parts, said ruler being positioned astride the crest of the assembly parts .
- the horizontal side of the crest of the connecting pieces comprises a bead whose excess thickness is practically the same as the thickness of the bosses of the legs of the rule.
- the upper part of the rule, above the rider is a hollow beam and the external sides of the rule each have at least one longitudinal ear in dovetail.
- the assembly pieces comprise, on each side of the crest, a vertical plate slightly spaced from the crest, perpendicular to said crest, and the upper horizontal side of which is at the same level as the side horizontal of the ridge.
- the first part or rule, shown in FIG. 1, is a ridge 50, the lower part of the profile of which has the shape of a jumper made up of two close legs 51 and 52 joined at their upper ends by a vertex 53.
- the inner flanks of the legs 51 and 52 include bosses 54 and 55 at a certain distance below the vertex 53. We will see below the usefulness of the linear bosses 54 and 55.
- the rider is surmounted by a hollow beam whose lower wall is formed by the top 53.
- the hollow beam also has a horizontal veil 56 in its middle part and a horizontal upper wall 57 which is substantially thicker than the top 53 and the sail 56.
- the external sides of the hollow beam and the external sides of the legs 51 and 52 of the rider have dovetail ears 58.
- the dovetailed ears 58 constituting ribs, the top 53, the upper wall 57 and the wall 56 tend to increase the inertia module of the beam and of the whole rule, that is to say say the rigidity of it.
- the approximate dimensions of rule 50 may be as follows: ' total height, 5 cm; thickness of the legs, 2 mm; thickness of the upper wall, 3 to 4 mm; ear height 58.5 mm; thickness of the crown 53 and of the veil 56; 1.5.
- a ruler with the dimensions mentioned above allows the use of supports spaced 50 cm or more.
- the outer sides of said rule 50 have marks, for example every 50 cm.
- the connecting piece 59 shown in FIG. 2 comprises a foot whose profile has the shape of an inverted V.
- the feet of the legs 60 and 61 respectively have points 62 and 63 and heels 64 and 65 which are braced against the legs.
- the vertex 66 of the inverted V is surmounted by a crest 67 whose height is substantially equal to the interior height of the rider of the rule 50.
- the top 66 has two recesses 68 and 69 respectively on each side of the base of the ridge 67.
- the ridge 67 has a section such that the rider of the rule 50 overlaps it by clamping it between the bosses 54 and 55.
- the top of the ridge 67 has the shape of a bead 70 which is locked between the bosses 54 and 55, the apex 53 and the inner flanks of the rider of the rule 50 when it is placed on the part 59.
- the 'thickness of the ridge 67 can be 3.65 mm in its lower and middle part, and 3.85 mm at the height of the bead 70, which therefore has an extra thickness of 1/10 on each side.
- the lower ends of the legs 51 and 52 of the rule 50 are housed in the recesses 68 and 69.
- the rule rests on the connecting piece not only by its top, but by the ends of its legs.
- the opening of the hollows 68 and 69 may possibly be slightly tightened and the lower end of the legs 51 and 52 may have the shape of a bead to constitute a means of worm additional rusting.
- Vertical plates 71 and 72 rise from the external flanks of the legs 60 and 61 of the part 59.
- the plates 71 and 72 are perpendicular to the ridge 67, their upper side is horizontal and at the same level as the horizontal edge of the ridge 67.
- the plates 71 and 72 rise in the middle part of the outer flanks of the legs 60 and 61, over the greater part of the width of said flanks.
- the vertical sides of the plates 71 and 72 adjacent to the crest 67 are spaced therefrom by a distance making it possible to assemble a rule 50 on the crest 67.
- the plates 71 and 72 On one of their faces, the plates 71 and 72 have two small horizontal projecting edges 73 and 74, at the same level as the bottom of the hollows 68 and 69.
- the thickness of the plates 71 and 72 is slightly greater than that of the crest 67 so that the ends of the legs 51 and 52, not maintained as in the recesses 68 and 69, are supported on the sides of the plates 71 and 72.
- the top of the plates 71 and 72 can have substantially the same shape and the same dimensions as the bead 70.
- a horizontal bar 75 connects the inner sides of the legs 60 and 61 to prevent said legs from spreading under the effect of a vertical force, the weight of the vibrating rule for example.
- This configuration of the parts 59 makes it possible to use them both as supporting parts of the rule parts 50 and as parts for making the crossing points.
- Exhibit 76 of FIG. 3 constitutes a variant of the assembly part 59 of FIG. 2, in that the V thereof is open up to 180 °. It comprises a horizontal plate 77 of square shape. It is surmounted by a crest 78 identical to the crest 67 in FIG. 2.
- the ridge 78 connects the midpoints of two opposite sides of the plate 77.
- the plate 77 has two longitudinal bosses 79 and 80, parallel to the ridge 78, so as to form two recesses 81 and 82 respectively on each side of the ridge78 .
- Two portions 83 and 84 of crest such as crest 78 rise on the line joining the midpoints of the two other opposite sides of the plate 77.
- Said portions 83 and 84 are spaced from crest 78 by a distance which makes it possible to assemble rule 50 astride ridge 78. Their others ends are vertical to the sides of the plate 77.
- the sides of the plate 77 have in their middle i-jorizontal flats such as 85 and 86, only visible in FIG. 3, at a level slightly lower than the level of the plate 77.
- the underside of the plate 77 has inverted V legs with very short legs.
- the parts 76 are provided for making slabs that are thinner than with the parts 59 or for leveling all the assembly parts on uneven ground. Like parts 59, parts 76 also serve to make the crossing points.
- the device according to the invention effectively solves the problem of sealing the joints. Indeed, when the concrete operates its withdrawal, it pinches the two ears dovetail 58 which each side of the rule 50 is provided, so that there is an effective two-stage seal. This traction on the four ears 58 can go as far as breaking the top 53 and the veil 56 which, for this purpose, are provided thinner than the top 57 and the ears 58. In addition, the withdrawal crack is not directed only on the top 5 cm of the paving corresponding to the height of the rule 50. Below, there is an anarchic shrinkage crack which ensures perfect keying of the paving panels.
- the device according to the invention makes it possible to produce pavements ranging from 6 cm to 20 cm thick depending on whether the connecting pieces 76 or the connecting pieces 59 are used.
- Fig. 4 we have shown, in section, a variant of the rule of FIG. 1.
- the crest 50 is extended downward by two legs 51 'and 52 ', joined at their upper ends by the top 53.
- the inner flanks of the legs 51' and 52 ' have the bosses 54 and 55 at a certain distance from the top 53.
- Above the top 53 there is the hollow beam formed parts 56 to 58.
- the lower ears 58 are at the height of the apex 53, but this is not compulsory.
- the dovetail ears .87 of a third pair are provided on each side of the lower ends of the legs 51 'and 52'.
- This structure with three pairs of stepped ribs further improves the rigidity of the rule with the consequence either of allowing the spacing between the assembly parts to be increased, or of supporting heavier vibrating rules. It also provides better sealing.
- FIG. 5 The assembly part of FIG. 5 is a variant of that of FIG. 3 and is intended to be used with the rule of FIG. 4.
- Fig. 5 where the same reference numbers have been used as in FIG. 3 to designate the same parts, there are the elements 77, 78, 83, 84 and 86.
- the elements 79 to 82 are deleted and replaced, on the upper face of the plate 77, by two linear stops 88 and 89 which are parallel to the ridge 78 and respectively spaced therefrom by a distance equal to the distance between the outer end of an ear 87 and the inner face of a leg 51 'or 52'.
- the upper face of the plate 77 has a profile which corresponds to the lower profile of the ears 87. In the embodiment shown, these are two inclined planes 90 and 91.
