Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for a passive leg movement with a bottom bracket, a base frame supporting this, one on each side of the bottom bracket, arranged by means of a motor driven crank with pedals and a handle bar with handles, up to which the handle bar with a body is clad, which is boarded with smooth walls lying essentially in vertical planes and has an elongated cross section in a horizontal plane with a longitudinal extension which is considerably greater in relation to its transverse extent, the handles being located above the bottom bracket.
- a device of this type known according to US-A-3 991 749 is derived from the bicycle structure in such a way that the saddle, the bottom bracket and the handlebar form a triangle with one another, in which the handlebar, as seen by the user, slopes obliquely is located above the bottom bracket at the front, while the saddle is slanted to the rear above the bottom bracket.
- passive leg movement can only be considered for those users who are able to sit on a saddle and who can still adequately control their leg movements.
- the narrow side of the panel facing the user is inclined obliquely forward so that it remains accessible for the actuation of a switch button arranged there, so that the case can occur that the user's knees strike against the panel edges or even against one another if there is a lack of control function.
- the object of the invention is to use the device to perform leg movements even in patients who are bound to a wheelchair, in particular paraplegics and multiple sclerosis patients who are largely restricted in their mobility are to be treated .
- the speed control of the motor can be adjusted either by means of a dimmer on the plate closing in the upper section of the body or by means of a rotatable handle. In both cases, control is easy for the patient.
- the motion motor drives the pedal crankshaft via a worm gear and a slip clutch, for which a Bowden cable can be actuated.
- a special adaptation to the movement processes of the legs is achieved in that the side walls of the body in the area of the knees of the user are arched inwards.
- the base frame is provided with a roller along its front or along its rear edge in such a way that they come into contact with the floor when the device is tilted.
- the stability of the device is also of considerable importance.
- the frame has protruding front and rear boom supports for ground contact on both sides.
- FIGS 1 and 2 show the pedal crankshaft 11 emerging from the lower section 33 of the lining body, to which a crank 1 is connected on both sides.
- the pedals 4 and 4 ' are arranged hanging.
- Inside the cladding section 33 there is still a drive motor to be described later with clutch and gearbox, so that the pedal crankshaft 11 can be moved by a motor.
- the lower section 33 is held firmly on the floor by means of the outrigger supports 34 emerging on both sides.
- a roller 26 which is normally without contact with the ground. However, when the device is tilted forward, said roller 26 comes into contact with the ground, so that an easy procedure is possible.
- a tube 23 extends upward from section 33 to support upper section 32 of the cladding body at some distance from the lower section.
- This upper section is particularly designed so that it causes a separation between the patient's knees.
- the smooth walls 29, with which this upper section 32 is essentially boarded, allow the knees to slide easily along, so that injuries are also avoided.
- the longitudinal extension 30 must therefore be dimensioned such that the section 32 is located between the knees.
- the transverse extension 31 is of relatively small extent.
- the handles 6 and 6 'penetrate the section 32. One of the handles can be rotated and allows the speed of the motor, not shown here, to be adjusted via a Bowden cable.
- the section 32 is closed at the top by the essentially flat plate 14, which, as FIG.
- the end pivots 8 of the cranks 1 mentioned above carry, as can be seen in FIG. 4, radial ball bearings 7 by means of the above bolts, with the aid of which the pedals 4 are arranged in a hanging manner.
- the pedal crankshaft 11, to which the cranks 1 are fastened at the ends, is driven according to FIG. 3 via the worm 18 and the gearwheel 19 engaged therewith and finally the slip clutch 20.
- the slip clutch there is a Bowden cable 21 which leads upwards through the tube 23 shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 5, so that it can be actuated from there.
- FIG. 3 also shows, the entire arrangement is housed in a housing, so that the gear and clutch cannot get dirty on the one hand and that on the other hand no oil or lubricants can escape.
- FIGS. 5 and 6 show how the tube 23 running above with supports 24 forms a base frame.
- 5 shows the position of the motor 3, which is connected to the bottom bracket 2 and whose output is formed by the worm 18 already mentioned.
- the base frame there is the base area 13, from which the cladding 5 extends obliquely upwards.
- the base frame is formed with a base plate 27 in the area of its base area 13.
- a roller 26 can be seen on the rear edge thereof, by means of which the device can be moved in a tilted position.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for a passive leg movement with a bottom bracket, a base frame supporting this, one on each side of the bottom bracket, arranged by means of a motor driven crank with pedals and a handle bar with handles, up to which the handle bar with a body is clad, which is boarded with smooth walls lying essentially in vertical planes and has an elongated cross section in a horizontal plane with a longitudinal extension which is considerably greater in relation to its transverse extent, the handles being located above the bottom bracket.
A device of this type known according to US-A-3 991 749 is derived from the bicycle structure in such a way that the saddle, the bottom bracket and the handlebar form a triangle with one another, in which the handlebar, as seen by the user, slopes obliquely is located above the bottom bracket at the front, while the saddle is slanted to the rear above the bottom bracket. With this arrangement, passive leg movement can only be considered for those users who are able to sit on a saddle and who can still adequately control their leg movements. The narrow side of the panel facing the user is inclined obliquely forward so that it remains accessible for the actuation of a switch button arranged there, so that the case can occur that the user's knees strike against the panel edges or even against one another if there is a lack of control function.
An embodiment known from the publication "Electronic Design",
Starting from the state of the art mentioned in the introduction, the object of the invention is to use the device to perform leg movements even in patients who are bound to a wheelchair, in particular paraplegics and multiple sclerosis patients who are largely restricted in their mobility are to be treated .
This problem is solved by the invention as characterized in the claims.
In this way, a patient can reach the pedals of the bottom bracket directly from a wheelchair. Above all, thanks to the body that keeps the legs separate, there is no danger that the legs and especially the knees will touch each other. Injuries cannot be caused by the legs resting against the smooth walls of the body separating them. Accidents due to uncontrolled leg movements are thus avoided. Since the basic geometric shape of a bicycle has been deviated in so far that not only the saddle is omitted but also the body is inclined towards the user, the handles can also be easily reached from the wheelchair. The pedals hanging below the pivot point on the cranks ensure an optimal posture of the feet even when patients can no longer adequately control the foot movements. Tilting of the feet is definitely not possible with the hanging arrangement of the pedals. The laterally raised edges of the foot plates of the pedals prevent the foot edges from touching the moving parts.
The need for particularly smooth walls of the sections of the body is taken into account by the fact that they consist of plastic, in particular of methyl polymethacrylic acid.
The speed control of the motor can be adjusted either by means of a dimmer on the plate closing in the upper section of the body or by means of a rotatable handle. In both cases, control is easy for the patient.
For reasons of operational safety, it is of considerable advantage if the motion motor drives the pedal crankshaft via a worm gear and a slip clutch, for which a Bowden cable can be actuated.
A special adaptation to the movement processes of the legs is achieved in that the side walls of the body in the area of the knees of the user are arched inwards.
In order to be able to bring the device to the user effortlessly and to transport it away again after use, the base frame is provided with a roller along its front or along its rear edge in such a way that they come into contact with the floor when the device is tilted.
The stability of the device is also of considerable importance.
It is stabilized by the floor the frame has protruding front and rear boom supports for ground contact on both sides.
Darin zeigen:

- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the device according to the invention in an oblique front view,
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the device according to the invention in an oblique rear view,
- FIG. 3 shows a cross-sectional illustration of the transmission of the new device,
- Figure 4 is a partial cross-sectional view of a pedal assembly and
- Figure 5 shows another embodiment of the device according to the invention in a side view.
Figures 1 and 2 show the
The
The further embodiment of the invention according to FIGS. 5 and 6 show how the
In this embodiment, in order to improve the stability, the base frame is formed with a
