Abstract

1. Capping machine for gas cylinders or similar container which have a valve provided with a square (3) and with an outlet (8) having an external screwthread, and which have first been so oriented in an apparatus disposed upstream that their outlets are always directed in a determined direction, which machine comprises a support and vertical guidance device (PA) on which is mounted a capping device (TC), characterised in that : - the capping device (TC) comprises means (PS) effecting its centering on the axis (y-y) of the outlet (8) of the valve by acting on the square (3) of the latter, and - the support and vertical guidance device (PA) comprises means (10, 11, 12, 15) for adapting the height of the line of action of this device to that of the axis (y-y) of the valve outlet, taking as reference a lower generatrix of the surface (9) circumscribing the external screwthread of said outlet (8).
