A tapping device for converters with a closed tapping channel, which is composed of refractory blocks or disks, wherein the blocks or disks have openings forming sections of the tapping channel. To achieve shorter tapping times and longer end lives, it is provided that the tapping channel has a block or disk (1) on the inlet side with a funnel-shaped opening and the diameter of the opening of the block or disk is smaller on the cold side of the tapping channel than on the fire side.

Description

The invention relates to a tapping apparatus for K on- verter having a closed tapping channel which is comprised of refractory blocks or discs, the blocks or discs of the tapping channel forming portions have perforations.

Known tapping devices for converters have: a continuously cylindrical tapping channel. Such cylindrical tapping channels known from DE-OS 1 583 306 have the disadvantage that disproportionately long tapping times result at the beginning of each new tapping step, which decrease initially quickly and then proportionally to the availability. The reason for this is the constriction of the outflowing steel when it enters the tapping channel. In addition, the tapping beam is accelerated by gravity, which leads to a further reduction in the cross-section of the tapping beam. Furthermore, since essentially only the fire-side part appears as wear resistance in a cylindrical tapping channel, there is high uneven wear and thus a relatively short service life of the entire tapping device.

The application has the task of eliminating the above-mentioned disadvantages of known tapping devices. This is achieved according to the invention in a tapping device of the type mentioned at the outset in that the tapping channel has a block or disk on the inlet side with a funnel-shaped opening and the diameter of the opening of the block or disk is smaller on the cold side of the tapping channel than on the fire side. The diameters of the openings in the blocks or disks of the tapping channel preferably narrow conically in the direction of the cold side.

According to the invention, the tapping channel is thus adapted to the tapping jet. Surprisingly, this results in the following essential advantages. The shelf life of the rack delivery is increased significantly. The tapping times are reduced. An optimally bundled tapping jet is obtained the first time a new delivery is tapped. The better bundling results in less oxidation of the pouring stream. This results in a lower consumption of oxidizing agents and the quality of the jet is improved because it now has fewer inclusions. Due to the channel shape adapted to the flow conditions, there is less widening of the inlet nozzle towards the end of a tapping step and thus less slag entrainment towards the end of the tapping.

A preferred embodiment of the invention consists in that, with the exception of the inlet-side block or disk, the openings of the blocks or disks are cylindrical, as is known per se, but the diameters of the openings narrow step-wise towards the cold side. This results in a tapping channel that is staggered in diameter, which is made of common refractory blocks or discs can be assembled. The steps in the tapping channel are removed by the first tapping feeds, so that within a very short time a tapping channel with a continuously smooth inner surface is obtained.

The drawing shows two exemplary embodiments of a tapping device according to the invention,

The tapping device according to Figure 1 consists of several refractory tapping blocks. The top tapping block 1 is designed as an inlet funnel. The two subsequent blocks 2 have cylindrical openings, the inner diameter of which is equal to the outlet diameter of the uppermost block 1. The lower block 2 is followed by three further blocks, the openings of which have the same diameter as one another. The diameter of the opening of the blocks 3 is, however, smaller than that of the opening of the blocks 2. In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, only one block 2, two blocks 3 and additionally two blocks 4 are used. Blocks 2, 3 and 4 are common standard products, so that the tapping device according to the invention is simple to produce. The steps 5 resulting between the blocks 2, 3 and 4 are quickly removed during the first infeed, so that a conical tapping is obtained within a very short time, which optimally adapts to the tapping jet.
