Abstract
Реагенты и методы с низкими термодинамическими барьерами могут применяться для превращения низших алканов, например метана, в метанол или другие производные продукты. Одна система использует небольшое количество несолевого радикала-инициатора, например кислоты Маршалла - перекиси дикислоты, который может быть расщеплен на два радикала. При введении метана метилсульфонатные радикалы удаляют из него атомы водорода, образуя стабильную метансульфоновую кислоту (МСК), одновременно образуя новые метиловые радикалы для поддержания цепной реакции. Выводимая МСК может быть реализована, или использована, или может быть расщеплена на метанол (который может быть использован на месте или транспортирован в жидкой форме) и диоксид серы (который может быть окислен до трехокиси серы и возвращен в реактор). Этой безводной системой не создается никаких солей и образуется минимальное количество отходов. В альтернативной системе используется бифункциональный реагент с электрофильными и нуклеофильными доменами (например, бромат-сульфатное соединение) для создания протонных и электронных сдвигов в метане, используя симфорный и анхимерный эффекты для получения переходных промежуточных соединений с низкими энергетическими барьерами, обеспечивая избирательное получение промежуточных продуктов, которые могут быть подвергнуты крекингу для выделения метанола.
