Abstract
Guanidinothiazole compounds of the general formula I <IMAGE> in which R is hydrogen or alkyl, Y is sulphur or methylene, m and n are each an integer 1-3, and A is a group <IMAGE> or -CONHR4 [in which R1 is hydrogen, cyano, carbamoyl, ureido, hydroxyl, alkoxy, acyl, acylamino, arylsulphamoyl, aralkyl, carboxymethyl or a group -SO2-R3 (in which R3 is alkyl, halogenoalkyl, unsubstituted or substituted aryl, amino, mono- or dialkylamino, arylamino or aralkylamino), R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cyano or acyl, and R4 is hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyl or sulphamoyl], or acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula II <IMAGE> II in which R' is alkyl, and X is oxygen or N-R1 or N-R2, with an amine of the formula R1-NH2, R2-NH2 or R4-NH2, preferably in an anhydrous, organic reaction medium. The compounds I and the pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof can be used as inhibitors of gastric acid secretion.
