Abstract

In a process for treating wood fibre pulp, especially pulp containing recycled paper, the pulp is concentrated and then heated using superheated steam under pressure, before the pulp is transferred to a disperser 10 in which the pulp is comminuted. The pulp is fed from the disperser to a metering corkscrew 20 without separate evacuation of steam from the system. One end of the screw is closed by means of a valve device 21, such that the pulp conveyed by the screw is compressed to form a plug, which seals the system. The valve device 21 placed at one end of the screw 20 is arranged to open when the pressure applied to it by the plug exceeds a predetermined value. The invention also relates to a disperser 10 having a substantially rectangular outlet connected to a corkscrew 20 of the abovementioned type. <IMAGE>
