Abstract
This TPE Pacifier (thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) is the alternative to nature rubber and silicone pacifiers used in generations. The flexible material TPE Thermoplastic elastomers (Thermo plastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) offers better resistance towards biting, oils, food, heat, coldness, but most importantly it is 100% recyclable. The TPE can be made of green bio-materials (renewable) but also be 100% upcycled to new pacifiers after use and that´s not possible with natural rubber or silicone. According to the invention this object is realized in that a pacifier comprises a nipple and a shield made of a flexible TPE Thermoplastic elastomer (Thermo plastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) wherein the one-piece pacifier is so big that the child using the pacifier cannot swallow the pacifier even if folded or twisted since the material is flexible. The shield of the pacifier is shaped such that it is possible to obtain air between the skin of the baby and the pacifier, this to prevent skin irritations if use for a longer period of time, the shield also has areas left open in the design also to allow air to get in between the baby and the pacifier. The shield on the pacifier will prevent that the nipple is being swallowed by a child in its mouth. Advantageously the shield has a curved geometry. The shield is curved such that it bends away from the child's mouth. This shape does not hinder a child from suckling on the nipple and it does not leave red marks on the child's cheeks. The pacifier can be made in a one-piece tool or in a way where the nipple is molded on its own and then later assembled to the shield. This way the pacifier can be made (injection mold) to have a hard shield and a soft TPE (Thermo plastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) nipple. Furthermore, the shield has to be shaped such that it allows a child to breathe through its nose while having a pacifier the mouth. The TPE pacifier (thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) according to the invention contributes to weight reduction of the pacifier in general since TPE (thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) is lighter than natural rubber and silicone. TPE Thermoplastic elastomer (thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) is lighter than rubber and silicone also the Soft TPE pacifier is a simpler and more-robust manufacturing process when compared to silicone.
Description
DK 2022 00576 A1 1
Pacifiers are used to satisfy an infant's non-nutritional suckling instinct in order to comfort them. This pacifier is made in flexible TPE (Thermo plastic elastomers based on
Styrenic-block-copolymers) due it is safe, flexible material and without any harmful components and itis available in renewable materials like green materials said leftovers from the sugar plant, corn production and this material is 100% recyclable and then the used pacifiers can be shredded into granulates and again be reused into new pacifiers, since it is a one piece/material pacifier.
TPE, Thermo plastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers is a very strong and durable material and compared to the known pacifiers made of rubber or silicone,
The thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers is resistant to oils, food and many different chemicals and the material withstands frost and boiling, as well as sun rays (UV) Compared to silicone made pacifiers the thermoplastic elastomers based on
Styrenic-block-copolymers is 100% Recyclable and can be made of renewable materials.
The flexible thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers Pacifier is injected molded and this feature brings more options to the products final resistance, the TPE itself can have an antiracial recipe additive function too, so if dropping the pacifier on the floor bacterial will not grow on the TPE pacifier surface if adding this antibacterial recipe in the TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers.)
The one part/piece TPE Pacifier is easy to clean and keep clean, since it has no parts being connected together, no gabs or clicks witch always is a weakness and places where food or dirt can get stocked.
Every day hundreds of thousands of pacifiers are thrown out, burned of the simple reason that they cannot be recycled, therefore this new material for pacifiers is extremely suitable, as it solves the task of comforting the child, but at the same time the TPE material can withstand the situations the pacifier is normally exposed to, in fact better than both rubber and silicone, in most situations, but the most important thing is the material. TPE is harmless and safe without phthalates and it can even be produced in bio material which is an environmentally conscious solution, but the fact that the soft TPE can be recycled 100% must be one of the most important parameters, to bring this new invention out into the world.
Claims (7)
1. The TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers ) pacifier 10 comprising a nipple 3 and a shield 1 that is made in a one-piece flexible, injected molded and only Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers (TPE) material is used in the construction, with a grip area on the back 4,5+6 of the flexible TPE Thermoplastic elastomers(Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block- copolymers) shield 1, the flexible TPE one-piece pacifier 10 will variate in material thickness, the nipple part 2,3 as the thinnest part and the shield 1 thicker and the grip 4,5+6 the thickest part of the pacifier 10, a hole 8 going inside the pacifier on the back side of the shield 1 allowing air into the inside of the nipple 3 this makes the nipple 3 more flexible thus the nipple 3 seems more genuine.
2. The TPE pacifier according to claim 1 can also be injected molded in in several parts so the TPE(Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers ) nipple 2,3 can be a single part to add on to the pacifier shield 1, then the TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers) nipple 2,3 can be assembled to the shield 1 and the shield 1 made of flexible or rigid materiel, the pacifier will be assembled by the TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers )nipple 20 and the shield 30, the TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block- copolymers ) nipple part 20 will have an open construction 36, allowing air to enter the center of the nipple 1coming from the back of the shield 30 side.
3. The TPE pacifier according claim 1 the shield has air holes 7 in the flexible Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers shield 1
4, The pacifier according claim 2 the shield has air holes 7 in the rigid or flexible material of the shield.
5. The Soft TPE pacifier according to claim 1, will be made of renewable Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers (TPE)
6. The TPE pacifier according to claim 1 and 2, can be made of anti-bacterial (TPE)Thermoplastic elastomers based on Styrenic-block-copolymers.
