Abstract
Previously unknown phenylhydrazine derivatives having the formula (IV) <IMAGE> which are intermediates for preparing herbicidally active 5-amino-1-pyrazoles having the formula (I) <IMAGE> Process for preparing the derivatives (IV) by reacting a phenylhydrazine having the formula (II) <IMAGE> with a nitrile having the formula (III), (IIIa) or (IIIb) <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE> where appropriate in the presence of a diluent and/or a reaction auxiliary. Substituent meanings: R1 = H, NO1-2, halogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, optionally substituted phenyl, =SO0-2R<9>, -COR<10>, -PO(OR<11>)2 or -CR<1Q>=NOR<11>; R<2> = H or -CXR<12>; R<3> = H, -CXR<12> or alkyl; R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7> and R<8> = CN, NO2, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, haloalkyl, haloalkoxy or SO0-2R<13>; R<5>, R<7> and R<8> additionally = H; R<9> = H, OH, halogen, NH2, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, alkyl, haloalkyl or optionally substituted phenyl; R<10> = H, alkyl or optionally substituted phenyl; R<11> = H, haloalkyl, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenylalkyl; R<12> = H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, haloalkyl or optionally substituted cycloalkyl, phenyl, phenoxy, phenylthio or phenylamino; R<13> = NH2, alkyl, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino or haloalkyl; X = O or S; A = halogen, OH or alkoxy; Z = -CH=CR<1>-CN or -CH2CH(Hal)CN; Hal and Hal' = halogen.
