Abstract
The invention has the object of indicating cellular glass granules having a composition which is chemically resistant to alkaline attack in the cement matrix, preferably using recycled glass, in particular bottle glass and plate glass, and at the same time a process which allows the production of cellular glass having a certain composition and specific properties. The object is achieved by the novel glass composition, which has oxidic contents for cellular glass granules within the following ranges, with the proviso that the sum of all constituents is 100% by weight: SiO 68.5 - 75% by weight Na2O 10 - 14% by weight K2O up to 2.5% by weight Al2O3 1.8 - 3% by weight CaO 6 - 11% by weight MgO 0.5 - 4% by weight Fe2O3 up to 0.5% by weight SO3 up to 0.4% by weight TiO2 up to 1% by weight BaO 0.5 - 3% by weight others up to 0.5% by weight The invention relates to cellular glass granules as lightweight aggregate in, preferably, cement-bound lightweight mortars, lightweight concretes and heat-insulation plasters and to the process for the production thereof. The cellular glass granules are predominantly produced from recycled glass by mixing with a binder and blowing agent, pressing, comminuting and foaming.
