Abstract

The composting installation has a composting area which operates in a building (10) in an airtight fashion and has longitudinal troughs (12), a mixing and feeding carriage (26) which can travel transversely and longitudinally in the space (42) in front of the troughs, an agitator (18) for thoroughly mixing the mass of composting material (80) and for discharging it at the end (12B) 351 of the troughs, and a transfer carriage (58) which is used on the one hand to transfer the agitator (18) to a position above another trough and on the other hand for the metered discharge of compost into a transport device (66) which runs in a transverse direction. The composting installation operates without odour pollution of the outside environment and is much smaller than known installations with the same throughput. <IMAGE>
