Endoskop zur Beobachtung eines verdeckten Operationsfeldes 5Endoscope for observing a hidden surgical field 5

The invention relates to an endoscope for observing a concealed surgical field with a television chain for image reproduction.

Monocular endoscopes are known for endoscope-assisted surgical techniques, which illuminate the surgical field using a light source and a built-in light guide and transmit the image of the surgical field via an optical fiber bundle to an eyepiece, which allows the surgical field to be viewed either directly with the eye or via a television camera with a connected monitor. Due to the one-eyed view of the surgical field, no spatial impression can be conveyed. Versions with a miniature television camera at the end that is inserted into the body are also known, which means that an optical fiber bundle can be omitted.

The invention is based on the object of developing an endoscope of the type mentioned at the beginning in such a way that two images of the operation field are transmitted in such a way that a three-dimensional image of the operation field is created for the observer.

Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Endoskop wird das Operationsfeld bei in den Körper eingeführtem Endoskop durch zwei im Abstand voneinander angeordnete, im Körper liegende Miniatur-Fernsehkameras, dieThis object is achieved according to the invention in that two miniature television cameras are provided at the end of the endoscope that is to be inserted into the body for direct viewing of the surgical field, from which signal lines lead to at least one monitor for image viewing and which are arranged at such a distance that the observer receives a three-dimensional image of the surgical field. In the endoscope according to the invention, the surgical field is viewed when the endoscope is inserted into the body by two miniature television cameras arranged at a distance from one another and located in the body, which

Two images of the surgical field are transmitted outwards, which correspond to the view of the surgical field through the two eyes of the observer. These two images can be fed separately to the two eyes of the observer, so that a stereoscopic impression of the surgical field is created.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing.

The drawing shows an endoscope surrounded by a sheath 1, which has a translucent hood 2 at its end that is to be inserted into the body. Inside the endoscope, at the end that is to be inserted into the body and is associated with the schematically shown operating field 3, two miniature television cameras A, 5 are arranged, the distance between which can be adjusted according to the two double arrows. Signal lines 6, 7 lead from the miniature television cameras A, 5 to the outer end of the endoscope and from there to a television center 8, to which two monitors 9, 10 are connected. The operating field is illuminated by a light guide 11, into which light is fed from a light source 12 at the outer end of the endoscope. The light source 12 is fed by a supply unit in the television center 8. The illumination can also be provided by a light guide that is separate from the system, so that the light guide 11 in the endoscope 1 can be omitted.

The distance between the two miniature television cameras A, 5 can be adjusted to suit the distance between the observer's eyes. The image from the miniature television camera A is shown on the monitor and the image from the miniature television camera 5 is shown on the monitor. The images on the monitors 9, 10 can be fed separately to the two eyes of the observer in a known manner. It is also conceivable to provide only one monitor on which the image from the miniature television camera A is shown alternately.

It is essential for the invention that the two miniature television cameras 4, 5 are not arranged on the outer end of the endoscope, but on the end facing the operating field 3 and to be inserted into the body, so that optical fiber bundles for transmitting images of the operating field 3 to the outside are omitted. This means that the endoscope can be made slim and, if necessary, particularly flexible.

20The two miniature television cameras 4, 5 can be connected to one another via a flexible holder, which allows the insertion into the body in such a way that the miniature television cameras 4, 5 are placed on top of one another in such a way that the endoscope 1, with a flexible sheath, has a minimal diameter when inserted. 20

25The optics 13, 14 of the miniature television cameras 4, 5 can be designed as zoom lenses, where the magnification factor can be set independently or according to the "eye distance" of the two miniature television cameras 4, 5. 25
