CURTAIN TAPE, ESPECIALLY FOR VALLEY HANGINGS

The invention relates to a curtain tape, in particular for valances, with means for hanging the curtain.

For decorative purposes, in addition to curtains, cross hangings are often used, which are usually attached to the front of the curtain rail. In this way, not so decorative ends of any blinds and possibly parts of their hook fastening can be covered, or any optical design of the upper window area can be realized. An example of a cross hanging is shown in Fig. 5, whereby the window in question with frame etc. has been omitted to make it easier to understand. A curtain 2 is decoratively gathered together at the side by means of a retaining band 4. The valance can be folded in various ways. The panel is folded by hand and these are then fixed, e.g. by sewing. Instead, as with curtains, a gathering tape can be sewn or ironed on, in which a drawstring runs. When the drawstring is pulled, the curtain is gathered. In recent years, woven pleating tapes have also become very popular, one of which is shown in Fig. 1 to make it easier to understand. In the pleating tape 10, a drawstring 12 is alternately open (14) and closed (16), i.e. in the tape, whereby the lengths of the sections are usually not equal, but the latter (16) are much longer than the former (14). Holding loops 18 are usually provided for attachment to a curtain rail or the like. As the schematic representation of Fig. 2 (in which the scale and the lengths of the areas 14 and 16 are different from those in Fig. 1) shows, the pleating tape 10 is pulled together when pulled in the floating areas 14 of the pull cords 12, forming folds 20, and remains smooth in the areas in between. This allows the desired draping, i.e. a ruffle, of the cross-curtain provided with the pleating tape to be achieved.

The attachment of valances is usually carried out using a Velcro connection. As shown in Fig. 6, the hook part of the connection, i.e. a hook tape 30, is attached to a curtain rail 32, for example glued or attached to it. The Velcro part of the connection, i.e. a loop tape 40 (see Fig. 3), is attached to the back of the folded valance 6, as shown schematically in Fig. 4. The attachment

of the fleece tape 40 on the cross hanging 6 is relatively difficult, even when using a pleating tape 10 for pleating. This is due to the different thicknesses of the cross hanging 6 in the areas with and without folds. Therefore, the fleece tape 40 must be sewn on by hand. Even if the fleece tape is ironed on as an alternative, this is not easy and therefore time-consuming.

The invention is based on the object of providing an attachment option, in particular for cross hangings, so that they can be hung up easily and with little expenditure of time.

This object is achieved with a curtain tape having the features of claim 1. Advantageous further developments of the curtain tape according to the invention are the subject of the subclaims.

A curtain tape according to the invention is thus designed as a pleating tape and a knob-like raised layer is provided on the fastening side, at least in the area between the floats of the drawstrings.

One function of the curtain tape according to the invention is therefore that of a pleating tape, i.e. like a conventional pleating tape, it is provided with a drawstring and floating and non-floating areas. The lengths of these are selected according to the desired pleat formation and are therefore arbitrary. The curtain tape is also attached to the valance in the usual way.

The curtain tape according to the invention also fulfills the function of a Velcro tape and can therefore be brought into engagement with a corresponding hook tape to form a Velcro connection. This is due to the nop-

pen-like raised layer between the floats of the pull cords. The knobs or knob-like structures of this additional layer, which usually consist of a different yarn material, act like the fleece of a velcro tape. Their total surface area is also sufficient to form a durable Velcro connection.

The advantages of the curtain tape according to the invention are convincing. When preparing a valance for hanging, the loop tape that would otherwise be used in addition to the pleating tape is no longer required, so that the material costs are lower. On the other hand, the time-consuming and costly step of attaching the loop tape to the already pleated valance is no longer necessary, which means that the overall costs are reduced even further. The decorator only needs to have a pleating tape with the desired pleat formation sewn onto an appropriately sized piece of fabric and pull its drawstrings to create the folds. The hook tape is also attached to the curtain rail or the like. The decorator then only needs to attach the valance with the curtain tape to the hook tape and the valance is hung.

Of course, the curtain tape according to the invention can also be used to hang curtains.

The raised layer, which is raised in the shape of a knob, can also be continuous in the lengthwise direction of the tape. In this case, the drawstrings could run over the fleece. This form of implementation of the curtain tape according to the invention can bring advantages in terms of production. On the other hand, it is associated with a higher consumption of yarn.

It is advantageous to use a yarn with several capillary threads to form the raised, knob-like layer. This is characterized by fluffiness and sufficient tear resistance.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the pleating tape is a crochet tape. In this way, the production of the curtain tape according to the invention is particularly simple.

The curtain tape according to the invention can also be woven, for example.

The invention is described further below using an embodiment and the drawing. The embodiment is merely for illustrative purposes and is not to be viewed as restrictive in any way. Rather, other designs of the curtain tape according to the invention are possible within the scope of the claims.

The invention will now be further explained with reference to Fig. 7 and 8. Fig. 7 shows a schematic view of the fastening side of a curtain tape 50 according to the invention. A drawstring 52 is alternately open (54) and closed (56), i.e. guided through guide loops 58 or the like with a conventional function. The lengths of the floating (54) and non-floating (56) areas of the drawstrings are shown as the same. However, the latter (56) are usually much longer than the former (54).

Between the guide loops 58 arranged near the edge of the band, there is an area 60 with a raised layer in the form of knobs. The knobs 62 are designed in such a way that the area 60 acts like the fleece of a fleece band. For this purpose, the knob yarn consists of several capillary threads.

When pulled, the curtain tape 50 is pulled together at the floating areas 54 of the drawstrings 52, forming folds and remains smooth in the areas in between. This allows the desired draping, i.e., a ruffle, of the cross-curtain provided with the pleating tape to be achieved. The knobbed or fleece areas 60 then form, apart from the respective gaps

between each other there is a continuous fleece layer on the fastening side of the tape. Using this fleece layer the valance can then be attached directly to the hook tape.
