Description
B. die Natrium- oder Kaliumsalze der Methylxanthogensäure, der Äthylxanthogensäure, der P ropylxanthogensäure u. a. m.Process for changing the structure of sulfur-containing scleroproteins the In the animal kingdom, skieroproteins play the role of basic substances and are found in water and saline solutions insoluble. They include mainly keratin, i. H. the Substance of hair, wool, feathers, nails, etc., also the skeletal protein of the tendons and other elastic tissues, silk fibroin, the collagen of bones, cartilage, Connective tissue, etc. It has now been found that such scleroproteins can be used as far as They contain sulfur and can change their structure by using them with Treated solutions of xanthates. Suitable compounds are e.g. B. the sodium or potassium salts of methylxanthogenic acid, ethylxanthogenic acid, propylxanthogenic acid i.a. m.
The xanthates are generally used in aqueous solutions; however, it is sometimes also appropriate to use alcohols such as methyl, ethyl or propyl alcohol Od. Like. Solvents to be used.
Depending on the temperature and concentration conditions, the pH conditions and the intended purpose must be the treatment of sulfur-containing scleroproteins take place for a shorter or longer period of time. It is generally not necessary to be high Temperatures to apply. For example, hair already soften at temperatures of 25 to 400 within a reasonable period of time; z. B. at a concentration of the solutions from about 5 to Ig'O / o in 1/2 to 2 hours.
The action of xanthates becomes present in the scleroproteins disulfide-like sulfur bonds split to form -SH groups. These Effect will in general promoted, whom the solutions as well contain alkaline substances. It is therefore advantageous to make the solutions alkaline reactive salts such as trisodium phosphate, soda, borax, metaborate, or caustic alkalis, such as caustic soda, ammonia and the like. To be added.
In addition to the alkaline additives mentioned, the products also contain other additives, such as B. Fragrances, wetting agents and emulsifiers usiw. One can also add reducing agents, such as hydroxylamine, to prevent premature To prevent oxidation of the mercapto group by the oxygen in the air.
The effect of the xanthates can be achieved by subsequent treatment be lifted again with oxidizing agents. Such oxidizing agents are z. B. hydrogen peroxide and its derivatives, such as per compounds and addition compounds of urea and the like, also bromates and the like through this reoxidation disulfide bonds are established again. One can use the educated-SH groups but also implement with other reactive compounds, e.g. B. with alkylating Agents such as alkylenedibromides, also with aldehydes such as formaldehyde or glyoxal.
The invention can be exploited in many ways. So you can z. B. the sulfur-containing scleroproteins treated with the xanthates, which thereby reduce their Have lost elasticity, deform and then the softening effect through reoxidation or cancel the reaction with aldehydes or alkylene dihalides. The scleroproteins then remain in the deformed while regaining their elastic properties State. One can use these properties e.g. for the production of permanent waves in living or dead hair by cold means or for straightening naturally frizzy hair Hair, e.g. B. in negroes, use.
Another application is hair removal and the like. Like. Finally, by treating the softened scleroproteins with aldehydes, like formaldehyde or alkylene dihalides, also the resistance to chemical Influences, e.g. B. increase the alkali resistance of wool quite considerably. Let too The treated proteins often contain dyes, moth repellants and the like. better fit.
After the treatment, washing is generally carried out with water the water-soluble compounds, such as excess reactants, additives and the like> to remove.
Beispial 20 parts by weight of sodium ethyl xanthate, oienate are under Addition of 5 com ammonia dissolved in 100 cc of water. 0.2 g of alkylbenzenesulfonate are added to the solution added.
The living human is used to create a cold perm Hair wound on about 50 to 60 pencil-size wooden rolls and then with the aforementioned solution soaked.
A dry cloth is placed around the hair to retain body heat. After about 30 to 40 minutes, the softening of the keratin is achieved through repeated treatments of the hair with diluted hydrogen peroxide solution and thereby the Hair fixed in the wave shape.
After a thorough head wash after removing the wooden wrap the hair is permanently wavy in the form of a frizze.
