Description

Process for the preparation of lubricating oil emulsions It has been found that excellent lubricating oil emulsions can be obtained by adding up to 5 magnesium salts of fatty acids having at least 16 carbon atoms, which have been obtained by oxidizing paraffinic hydrocarbons with oxygen or molecular oxygen-containing gases 1 / G in mineral oil, based on the weight of the amount used, dissolves and the solution is emulsified with half to two times the amount of water.

The emulsifiers used are magnesium salts of fatty acids with at least 16 carbon atoms, which are obtained from the oxidation of paraffinic hydrocarbons of various origins, for example paraffinic hydrocarbons obtained by hydrogenation of carbon oxide according to Fischer-Tropsch or of low-temperature tars from hard coal, as well as of those from lignite hard coal. and soft paraffins or from petroleum paraffins, with molecular oxygen or gases containing such, such as air, arise as distillates or distillation residues of the crude fatty acid mixtures.

You can z. B. win by using the raw oxidation products saponified, which separates the non-acidic components from the soaps in a known manner the latter, e.g. B. by adding mineral acids, which sets fatty acids free and the low molecular weight fatty acids from the crude fatty acid mixtures thus obtained by distillation under reduced pressure, e.g. B. io mm mercury pressure up to a temperature of about 200 'or with a different pressure up to the appropriate temperature.

In carrying out the process, the magnesium salts of these fatty acids are dissolved in mineral oils. One can proceed in such a way that one brings the finished salts with heating and intensive stirring to the solution or that one first dissolves the free fatty acids or their alkali salts in the mineral oils and then with suitable magnesium compounds, eg. B. magnesium oxide, hydroxide or salts. In order to still obtain sufficient liquid emulsifying oil, the content of magnesium salts of the fatty acids mentioned should only be up to 5 %, based on the weight of the amount of mineral oil used. - Depending on the desired properties of the lubricating oil emulsions, the most varied types of spindle oils, machine oils, transformer oils, cylinder oils, light mineral oil distillates and the like can be used as mineral oils.

The emulsifying oils produced in this way are then with half to two times Amount of water emulsified. The emulsification takes place in a known manner, for example by simply stirring in the water or by homogenizing in known devices.

The lubricating oil emulsions produced in this way have good storage and temperature stability, show an excellent lubricating effect and can be used wherever pure lubricating oils have been used up to now. By using them, it is possible to save substantial amounts of mineral oil. B ice p y 1 ioo parts by weight trailing fatty acid mixture obtained than- lag in the conventional distillation of the Robfettsäuregemisches from the oxidation of Fischer-Gatsc # h by means of air, are saponified with potassium hydroxide in the form of a 17Gewichtsteilen 3o% aqueous solution boiling. The potassium soap is then dissolved in-water ioooTeilen # hot, whereupon from this solution with 3: 2 parts by weight of magnesium chloride (Mg C12-- 6 H2 0) in -I0O / cent aqueous solution, a mixture is made of magnesium soap which it practically with water washed free of chlorine and then dried M io5 '.

Man erhält eine dickflüssige homogene Emulsion der Viskosität 22' E bei 5o'.10 parts by weight of this magnesium soap mixture are dissolved in 49o parts by weight of a machine oil raffinate having a viscosity of 4.3 ' E at 569 in the heat, whereupon 500 parts by weight of water at room temperature are gradually added. A thick, homogeneous emulsion with a viscosity of 22 ' E at 5o' is obtained.
