The invention relates to a patient transport vehicle with a carer's seat, which is arranged at the head end of a stretcher used to transport a patient or a stretcher platform that accommodates the same and can be fixed in a raised or lowered position.

When transporting a patient in an ambulance, it is often necessary for there to be direct visual contact between the carer or doctor and the patient. The patient's facial expression makes it particularly easy and quick to see whether the patient's condition is changing. It is also reassuring for the patient to see the carer or doctor. Good visual contact is ensured when the carer's seat is positioned higher. Since a raised sitting position is disadvantageous for the carer or doctor in terms of comfort, the carer's seats have so far been arranged in such a way that they can be hung or fixed in an upper and a lower position in the vehicle. This gives the carer or doctor the opportunity to sit in a lower position when transporting only slightly injured patients who do not need to be observed. It was not previously possible to adjust the carer's seat to an intermediate position between the upper and lower positions. In addition, adjusting between the possible positions was cumbersome, since the carer or doctor always had to get up from the seat first and move it to a different position by hand.

Therefore, the object of the invention is to create an ambulance with a carer's seat that is particularly easy to adjust and adapt to different circumstances.

The ambulance vehicle 1 shown in Fig. 1 has a stretcher platform 2 arranged on one side of the vehicle in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, which is arranged above an intermediate floor extending to the opening of a tailgate of the ambulance vehicle 1. When the tailgate is open, a stretcher 3 can be pushed onto the stretcher platform 2 or removed from it. The head end of the stretcher platform 2 or the stretcher 3 is located at the front in the direction of travel of the ambulance vehicle 1.

Next to the head end of stretcher platform 2 or stretcher 3 there is a carer's seat 4 for a carer or doctor sitting in the direction of travel. The carer's seat 4 can be adjusted continuously between a lower end position 4 ¹ and an upper end position 4" by means of a motor-driven adjustment device. When the height is adjusted, the carer's seat is simultaneously moved in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in such a way that the carer's seat 4 is moved towards the foot end of stretcher platform 2 or stretcher 3 as the height increases. In the upper end position 4" the carer or doctor and patient can look at each other almost without turning their heads, so that the carer or doctor can observe the patient being transported particularly easily. In the case of seriously injured patients in particular, the carer or doctor will select an upper sitting position or the end position 4" of the carer's seat 4.

For patients with less serious injuries, i.e. when intensive observation of the patient is not required, the carer or doctor can choose a lower seat position to improve his or her comfort, while at the same time lowering the position of the vehicle's center of gravity. Since the carer's seat 4 can be lowered into the vehicle when it is lowered,

longitudinally forwards, the carer or doctor can still see the patient's head or face from the side by turning the head accordingly without any significant obstruction to vision caused by the patient's blanket.

According to Fig. 2, the caregiver seat, which essentially consists of a seat frame 6 and a backrest frame 7, is mounted on links 8 and 9, which in turn are arranged in a parallelogram manner, in that the links 8 and 9 are pivotably connected with their lower ends to bearings 10 fixed to the vehicle floor and with their upper ends to bearings 11 on the seat frame 6 on the seat side, each pivotable about the vehicle's transverse axes. If the links 8 and 9 in Fig. 2 are pivoted clockwise, the caregiver seat moves from its lower end position 4' to the upper end position 4" while simultaneously being displaced in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

A motor spindle unit 12 is used for height adjustment, one end of which is hinged at a distance from the vehicle-mounted bearings 10 to the left-hand control arms 8 at 13' in Fig. 2 and the other end of which is hinged to a vehicle-side bearing 13, which is raised relative to the bearings 10, which in turn is fastened to a step formed by the vehicle floor in the area of the vehicle's rear axle, which in the example in Fig. 2 is arranged next to the right-hand bearings 10. The motor spindle unit 12 essentially consists of a threaded spindle and a matching threaded sleeve, as well as an electric motor, which rotates the threaded spindle and the threaded sleeve relative to one another in such a way that the threaded spindle is pushed into or pushed out of the sleeve, whereby the length of the unit increases or decreases accordingly.

Tension springs 14 are arranged essentially parallel to the motor spindle unit 12, which in the example in Fig. 2 are clamped between vehicle-side bearings ¹⁵ⁿ next to the bearings 13" of the motor spindle unit 12 and handlebar-side bearings 15" on the handlebars 9 and try to pull the supervisor's seat 4 upwards and to the right in the drawing and thus relieve the load on the motor spindle unit 12. As a result, the motor of the motor spindle unit 12 can be comparatively weakly dimensioned.

The arrangement shown in the drawing is characterized by great stability and structural simplicity. It is particularly advantageous that, due to the parallelogram-like arrangement of the links 8 and 9, no sliding joints are necessary.

In principle, however, a different arrangement of the handlebars is also possible, for example in the form of a scissor frame. One of the scissor handlebars can be arranged in the same way as the handlebars 8, while the other handlebars crossing these handlebars in a scissor-like manner are each arranged with sliding joints on the seat frame 6 and on the vehicle floor and are pivotally connected to the first handlebars by means of scissor joints. This arrangement results in a seat adjustment with the same kinematics as in Fig. 2.

Instead of the motor spindle unit 12, hydraulic, pneumatic or hydrohydraulic units, for example piston-cylinder units, can also be arranged if necessary.

In addition, these units or the motor spindle unit 12 can also be arranged elsewhere, for example between the vehicle floor and the seat frame 6.
