Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zum Härten der Innenwandung von Rohren und ähnlichen Hohlkörpern .durch Beaufschlagung mit einer Härteflüssigkeit und besteht darin, daß innerhalb eines Flüssigkeitsbehälters ein am oberen, geschlossenen Ende mit einer Ringbrause o. dgl. versehenes Steigrohr angeordnet ist, :durch welches vermittels einer an einer Saugleitung angeschlossenen Pumpe oder einer sonstigen Vorrichtung die sich im unteren Teil des Behälters sammelnde, mit dem Härtegut nicht in Berührung stehende Härteflüssigkeit über ein Verbindungsrohr gegen die Innenfläche des von oben nach unten teleskopartig über das Steigrohr hinweg bewegten, .auf Härtetemperatur befindlichen Rohres geleitet wird. Unterhalb der Löcher f kann um das Rohr c ein Trichter oder Schirm g mit kegeistumpfförmiger Fläche gelegt sein, der das ausspritzende Kühlmittel nach der Wandung des Werkstückes leitet und ein Herabfließen an der Wandung bewirkt. Dadurch wird das allmählich sich senkende Werkstück innen gleichmäßig abgekühlt und gehärtet, ohne daß die Außenwandung mit dem Kühlmittel in Berührung kommt. An dem Rohr c und dem Schirm g können geeignete Führungen h und i zum Führen des Werkstückes angebracht sein. Ebenso kann das Steigrohr c auch an eine Druckleitung angeschlossen sein. Der Stand des Kühlmittels in dem Behälter a ist so niedrig, daß das Werkstück nicht mit dem stehenden oder ruhenden Kühlmittel im Behälter in Berührung kommt und außen nur von Luft umgeben ist, wobei der im Innern sich bildende Dampf frei entweichen kann.
