Description

There is a method for exploring oil reservoirs known in which natural gas samples are taken from systematically distributed boreholes and these z. B. investigated by catalytic combustion on a glowing platinum wire for their content of hydrocarbons and possibly petroleum derivatives. So far this known method has been used in the manner. -that 'the natural gas that collects in the boreholes' was taken and examined. However, taking the natural gas samples in this way is disadvantageous in many respects. It has been shown that the natural gas that collects in the boreholes only contains hydrocarbons in relatively few cases, for example on cracks, crevices, faults and the like, in a measurable concentration. In addition, the known type of gas sampling often leads to false conclusions because swamp gases and the like also contain flammable hydrocarbons, in particular CH 4 , which have nothing to do with petroleum deposits.
With the type of gas sampling described, it is also unavoidable that the natural gas mixes with the air in an indeterminate manner through diffusion or through a flow created during suction, so that, if at all, then only very uncertain measured values at the bottom Search of the samples taken can be obtained.

The invention aims to improve the known type of gas sampling substitute. The invention consists in the above-described method for AufsuchSn the natural gas samples required for systematic analysis of oil reservoirs to be obtained by degassing of bio-ear cores removed from the boreholes.

It is known per se to determine the gas content of solids by that the substance to be examined is degassed by means of chemical or physical processes. However, such degassing of rocks has only been used in completely different contexts so far. If you turn this Degassing to provide a new way of gas sampling for the detection of To preserve oil deposits, one avoids the sources of error already described, caused by unintentional removal of swamp gas or by indeterminate mixing ■ of the natural gas with air or the like. Can arise.

·In addition, it has been shown that the obtained by degassing drill core parts Samples even then contained hydrocarbons in measurable concentrations, if the from the same borehole 6η gas samples taken directly no longer resulted in a measurement effect. ·

It has been shown that in the vicinity of oil deposits, surface

in such a case direct distillation products of the crude petroleum are available, which give further extremely important information for the search for oil deposits.

The degassing of the drill core samples can take place in any known manner, z. B. by suction in a vacuum, by heating o.
