Description
Isolating agents for electrical engineering It has been found that the in Water poorly soluble metal salts of naphthenic acids have a very high dielectric Show firmness and for this reason and also because of their other good ones Properties such as or mixed with other substances are excellent as isolating agents suitable for electrical engineering.
The naphthenic acid salts mentioned can be both in solid form also in liquid or dissolved form for the most diverse purposes on all Areas of electrical engineering. Except for a high electrical resistance these compounds have the particular advantage that one is able to <furch Choice of the metal components of the salts and by combining the various metal salts together to achieve products of very different physical properties. Meltability in particular should be mentioned as such variable properties and the solubility in organic solvents, resins, copals, oils, the brittleness or - flexibility and the ability to adhere very firmly to documents.
Any naphthenic acid metal salts which are sparingly soluble in water can be used apply; are particularly suitable, for. B. the calcium, barium, aluminum, Magnesium, lead, manganese, zinc, cobalt, iron and copper salts, also salts that contain several metals at the same time, e.g. B. Calcium and Magnesium, Zinc and Manganese, Cobalt, lead and manganese. Such mixed salts are often particularly valuable because solubility, meltability, brittleness, elasticity, gloss, etc. through suitable selection of the components can be largely influenced. In the preparation of Such products come in particular from the good solubility of the metal salts, mostly r: r, very useful in organic solvents, oils, etc.
By treatment with the above-mentioned molten or dissolved salts, z. B. by dipping, spraying, painting, potting, etc., materials can be vegetable; of animal, mineral or other origin, such as paper, wood, metal, stone, Minerals, glass, plastics, textiles and the like, very high insulating properties obtain. The naphthenic acid salts mentioned can also contain other substances, preferably those which in turn also show electrically insulating properties are added will. Example z The z. B. by treating zinc compounds such as zinc oxide, sulfate, carbonate, etc., zinc salts obtainable with naphthenic acids are melted or in organic solvents, e.g. B. benzene or oils etc., solved. The melt or solutions are applied to cables, capacitor paper, fabric or the like or used to embed metal parts to be insulated in said zinc salts. Examples 30 parts of zinc naphthenic acid are combined with 90 parts of an artificial Resin obtained by condensation of cyclohexanone, 6 parts of castor oil, ro parts of rosin and zoo parts of raw benzene mixed. The mass obtained can used advantageously for filling ceramic or similar insulating masses will.
Example 3 30 parts of naphthenic acid are combined with 225 parts of boiled Linseed oil, 25 parts of a 5 percent solution of rubber in benzene and 45 parts Raw benzene mixed. Cable paper is impregnated with this solution and obtained after a well-insulating paper after drying.
Example 4 30 parts of lead naphthenic acid are mixed with 26 parts of colophene, 90 parts of boiled linseed oil, 15 parts of a 5 percent solution of gum in benzene and 85 parts of crude benzene. If wood is impregnated with this solution, its insulating capacity increases considerably. If you want to treat paper or textile products with the solution, it is advisable to dilute the solution beforehand with about 34o parts of crude benzene. Example 30 parts of a mixture of lead naphthenic acid and manganese are mixed with 90 parts of a resin obtained by condensation of glycerine with phthalic acid, with 42 parts of boiled linseed oil, 42 parts of boiled Chinese wood oil and 150 parts of solvent naphthene. The mass obtained can be used with advantage for fastening metallic conductors in ceramic masses or for insulating such conductors.
