Abstract

Plastic wastes contg. metallic or organic impurities are washed with an aq. alkaline medium, pref. a dil. soln. of NaOH or an aq. suspension of Ca(OH)2, having a pH above 12 to remove metallic impurities with formation of H2. The plastic waste is pref. e.g. sprayed with the wash medium while being transported on a perforated conveyor. The wash liquid is recirculated. USE/ADVANTAGE - To prepare waste from household or industrial refuse for use as additive to building materials. Formation of gases, undesirable odours and health hazards during intermediate storage and processing is effectively prevented.

Wesentlich hierfür ist, daß die wäßrige, alkalische Lösung einen pH-Wert hat, der größer als 12 ist.
